Transportation Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Transportation Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Transpo I made this transportation vocabulary puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our community unit. The kids could name a few ways to get around but had no idea what words like vehicle, passenger, or public meant when we talked about how people travel. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like car, bus, train, bike, boat, plane, helicopter, truck, taxi, scooter, skateboard, and walk. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the transportation vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a helicopter is safer than a plane. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple car, bus, and airplane drawings but nothing too busy. Works for K through 2nd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw their favorite way to travel on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.rtation Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Community Building word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this community building puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our social-emotional learning unit. The kids could name their classmates but had no idea what words like community, belong, or teamwork meant when we talked about how we all fit together. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like community, belong, teamwork, trust, respect, listen, share, help, include, and celebrate. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the community building vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a community is only people who live near each other. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple handshake, heart, and globe drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one way they help their classroom community on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

US State Capitals word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

US State Capitals word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

US State Capitals word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I threw together this US state capitals puzzle pack one afternoon when my 4th graders were zoning out during geography. They could name California and Texas but had zero clue what a capital even was or why every state has one. So I made a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using the capitals from all 50 states. Nothing fancy just something to keep them busy while the vocabulary sinks in. The PDF is four pages total. Three student puzzles and one answer key. I use the word search after recess when they need to calm down. The scramble gets them debating they always mix up which capital goes with which state. The crossword works better in pairs. I added a couple of tiny star and map doodles but nothing distracting. Works for 4th and 5th grade. I just print and hand them out. Sometimes I ask early finishers to pick five capitals and write the matching state next to each on the back. The kids don't complain about these the way they do with regular worksheets.

Indigenous People of Canada word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Indigenous People of Canada word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Indigenous People of Canada word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Indigenous Peoples of Canada puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our social studies unit. The kids had some knowledge but kept mixing up "First Nations," "Inuit," and "Métis" or didn't understand that these are three distinct groups with their own unique cultures, languages, and histories . I wanted to build their vocabulary around these foundational terms without overwhelming them, so I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Indigenous, First Nations, Inuit, Métis, Nation, Treaty, Turtle Island, Elders, powwow, and culture . I also made sure to include "Inuk" as the singular form for Inuit because the kids always ask about that . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the difference between "First Nations" and "Aboriginal" (I gently explain that "Indigenous" is now the preferred collective term, while "Aboriginal" is still used in some legal contexts but many find it outdated) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've studied the map of Inuit Nunangat or looked at traditional territories. I added a couple simple feather, drum, and inukshuk drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one word from the puzzles and write a sentence about what it means on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Growth Mindset Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this growth mindset puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our social-emotional learning unit. The kids would say "I can't do math" but had no idea they could say "I can't do math yet." So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like growth, mindset, fixed, yet, try, fail, learn, mistake, challenge, struggle, practice, effort, improve, smart, brain, stretch, goal, persist, and believe. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the growth mindset vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether making mistakes helps you learn. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple brain, plant growing, and lightbulb drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers rewrite "I'm not good at spelling" with a growth mindset sentence on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Black Authors and Literature word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Black authors and literature puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our reading and Black History Month unit. The kids could name a few famous writers like Maya Angelou and Langston Hughes but had no idea about other incredible authors like Toni Morrison, Zora Neale Hurston, or contemporary writers. I wanted to introduce them to a range of voices—from poets like Nikki Giovanni to novelists like Walter Dean Myers and Jacqueline Woodson—without making it feel like a lecture. I also threw in some famous book titles like I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and The Bluest Eye because they come up in conversations about American literature . For a younger audience, I made sure to include children's book authors like Mari Evans , who wrote empowering vocabulary books for preschoolers during the Black Arts Movement , and modern illustrators like Ana Latese , whose work celebrates Black and brown children . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about how to spell "Zora" or whether Alex Haley is the author of Roots or something else. The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've read a few short biographies. I added a couple simple quill, book, and star drawings but nothing too busy. I also made sure to include the Coretta Scott King Book Award and the Caldecott Medal in some of the vocabulary because the kids love seeing shiny medals on book covers . Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one author from the puzzles and write one fact about them or one book they wrote on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Middle Grade Novel Terms word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this middle grade novel terms puzzle set for my 4th and 5th graders during our reading unit. The kids loved longer novels but had no idea what words like protagonist, antagonist, or climax meant when we talked about plot and characters. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like protagonist, antagonist, climax, rising action, resolution, theme, character development, setting, conflict, and plot twist. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the novel vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether the antagonist is always a villain. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple book, star, and magnifying glass drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. The Carbon Cycle word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this carbon cycle puzzle set for my 4th graders during our Earth science unit. The kids had heard of carbon dioxide but had no idea how carbon moved through air, plants, animals, and soil. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like carbon, carbon dioxide, oxygen, photosynthesis, respiration, decomposition, fossil fuels, atmosphere, plants, animals, soil, ocean, burn, and cycle. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the loop finally make sense. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the money vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about who painted Starry Night or whether The Scream is a painting or a person. The crossword I use for partners or as a review before a quiz. I added a couple simple paint palette, brush, and star drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one painting and write one fact about it on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Spanish School Subjects word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Spanish school subjects puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our Spanish unit. The kids could name subjects in English but had no idea what words like matemáticas, ciencias, or historia meant when we started learning Spanish school vocabulary. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like matemáticas, ciencias, historia, geografía, español, inglés, arte, música, educación física, computación, and lectura. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the Spanish school vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "educación física" is PE or health class. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple book, globe, and paintbrush drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write their favorite school subject in Spanish on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Sportsmanship Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this sportsmanship puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our PE unit. The kids could play games but had no idea what words like sportsmanship, respect, or fair play meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like sportsmanship, respect, fair play, teamwork, cooperation, honesty, integrity, kindness, encouragement, congratulate, winner, loser, shake hands, rule, referee, cheer, support, friendly, positive, and character. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the sportsmanship vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether it's okay to celebrate after winning. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple handshake, trophy, and smiley face drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one way to show good sportsmanship on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
