Middle Eastern Culture Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword

Middle Eastern Culture Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Middle Eastern Culture Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Middle Eastern culture vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our global studies unit. The kids had heard of some of the big countries, but they had no idea what words like souk, hijab, or habibi meant when we started looking at everyday traditions and cultural practices. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like souk, souq, bazaar, oasis, nomad, Bedouin, mosque, imam, Koran, Ramadan, hijab, abaya, kaffiyeh, falafel, baklava, hummus, pita, habibi, sheikh, and a few more like fellahin and zaffa to show how many layers there are in regional life. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether falafel and hummus are from the same country (they're both from the region, but kids always have strong opinions about food origins). The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've looked at photos of markets, architecture, and traditional clothing. I added a couple simple mosque, camel, and coffee pot drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one word from the puzzles and draw a picture of it on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Pet Animals word search, scramble and crossword

Pet Animals word search, scramble and crossword
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Pet Animals word search, scramble and crossword ⭐ I made this pet animals puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during a random week when we needed something fun but still useful. The kids love talking about their pets at home so I figured why not turn it into a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword. Words like dog, cat, hamster, guinea pig, parrot, turtle, fish, and rabbit. Nothing too hard but the scramble trips them up on "ferret" sometimes which is actually funny to watch. ⭐ The PDF is four pages total. Three puzzles and one answer key page that covers all three. Word search is great for quiet time after recess. The scramble works better in pairs because they argue about spelling. Crossword I save for kids who finish early and need something calm. I added a couple little paw print and fishbowl drawings but kept it clean so it prints fine in black and white. ⭐ Works for 1st through 4th grade. Print and hand out. Sometimes I ask them to circle their favorite pet from the puzzle and write one sentence about why they like it. Takes zero prep and the kids actually ask for these now instead of groaning at worksheets.

Perimeter and Area word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Perimeter and Area word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this perimeter and area puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our measurement unit. The kids could measure length but kept mixing up perimeter and area, especially when I asked them which was which. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like perimeter, area, distance, around, outside, inside, cover, square units, length, width, side, add, multiply, rectangle, and formula. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the difference finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether you add or multiply to find perimeter. The crossword I use for partners with shape clues. I added a couple simple rectangle drawings with numbers on sides and shaded inside for area but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers find the perimeter and area of a 4 by 6 rectangle on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the novel vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether the antagonist is always a villain. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple book, star, and magnifying glass drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a short book recommendation using three words from the puzzle on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Native American Heritage Month word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Native American Heritage Month puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our November unit. The kids had heard of the month but had no idea what words like heritage, tradition, or sovereignty meant when we talked about Indigenous contributions. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Native American, heritage, tradition, culture, tribe, land, history, ancestor, respect, honor, and storytelling. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the Native American Heritage vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether every tribe has the same traditions. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple feather, drum, and tipi drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one tribe and one fact about them on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Getting Around the Community word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this getting around the community puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our community unit. The kids could walk to school but had no idea what words like crosswalk, sidewalk, or street meant when we talked about moving safely in town. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like walk, bike, car, bus, train, street, sidewalk, crosswalk, stop sign, traffic light, map, neighborhood, and park. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the community travel vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a crosswalk or a stop sign is more important for safety. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple car, bus, and crosswalk drawings but nothing too busy. Works for K through 2nd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw their route to school on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Bilingual English-Spanish Colors word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this bilingual colors puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our dual language unit. The kids could name colors in English but had no idea what words like rojo, azul, or verde meant in Spanish. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like rojo/red, azul/blue, verde/green, amarillo/yellow, naranja/orange, morado/purple, rosa/pink, marrón/brown, negro/black, blanco/white, and gris/gray. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the color vocabulary finally stick in both languages. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "marrón" and "café" both mean brown. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple color block and Spanish flag drawings but nothing too busy. Works for K through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers color a rainbow and label each color in both languages on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Workplace Safety Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this workplace safety vocabulary puzzle set for my 4th and 5th graders during our career exploration unit. The kids had heard of safety but had no idea what words like hazard, caution, or protect meant when we talked about staying safe on the job. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like safety, hazard, caution, protect, warning, sign, helmet, goggles, gloves, vest, walk, look, listen, report, and help. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the workplace safety vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a hard hat is more important than safety goggles. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple hard hat, safety vest, and caution sign drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one workplace safety rule on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
