African Kingdoms word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
African Kingdoms word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this African kingdoms puzzle set for my 4th graders during our world history unit. The kids had heard of Egypt but had no idea about powerful kingdoms like Ghana, Mali, or Great Zimbabwe. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Ghana, Mali, Songhai, Zimbabwe, kingdom, king, Mansa Musa, gold, salt, trade, caravan, desert, Timbuktu, scholar, and wealth. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the names and facts finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether Mansa Musa was the richest person in history. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple gold nugget and salt block drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one fact about Timbuktu on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

National Tartan Day word Scramble puzzle worksheet activity National Tartan Day Word Scramble - Celebrate Scottish Heritage! I made this tartan-themed word scramble for my 3rd grade class when we studied world cultures last April. It's a simple 2-page PDF with 24 scrambled words about Scottish traditions - from easy ones like "kilt" and "plaid" to harder terms like "bagpipes" and "highlander." When we used this last year, my students loved racing to unscramble "sporran" (that furry pouch kilts have) after we watched a video about Scottish dress. The worksheet kept them engaged while I set up our tartan pattern art project. You'll get: • Page 1: The word scramble activity in large, clear print • Page 2: An answer key for quick checking Perfect for: National Tartan Day (April 6) World cultures units Fun activities before spring break I included words we actually encountered in our Scotland studies - "clan," "thistle," even "haggis" which made the kids giggle. The Celtic music playing in the background really set the mood while they worked! Format: No-fuss PDF (2 pages) Teacher Tip: Have students circle the most surprising Scottish word they discover!

Good Friday word Scramble puzzle worksheet activity Good Friday Word Scramble - Meaningful Holiday Activity I made this word scramble for my Sunday School class last year when I needed a simple but thoughtful Good Friday activity. It's a basic 2-page PDF with 24 scrambled terms related to the Easter story - words like "cross," "sacrifice," and "Jerusalem" that kids hear during Holy Week services. The words range from familiar ("prayer") to more challenging ("resurrection") to work for different ages. I printed them on cream paper to keep the solemn tone of Good Friday, and the children worked on them quietly before our Tenebrae service. You'll get: • Page 1: The scramble with clear, large-print words • Page 2: Straightforward answer key I use this when: Teaching about Holy Week Needing a quiet reflection activity Preparing children for Easter services The words come straight from our church's Passion reading - "disciple," "betrayal," "tomb" - not just generic Easter terms. Last year, the word "forgiveness" led to a powerful discussion after the kids unscrambled it. Format: Simple PDF (2 pages) Tip: Have students underline the word that means most to them!

Grade 1 Months of the Year word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Grade 1 Months of the Year word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this months of the year puzzle set for my 1st graders during our calendar and seasons unit. The kids could name a few months but kept mixing up the order—especially August and September—and had trouble spelling words like February and Wednesday, even though Wednesday isn't a month . So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using months like January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December. I also threw in a few like "year" and "month" because they came up in our conversations about how the calendar works . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "February" (the silent R always gets them) or whether June comes before July. The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a classroom calendar nearby for the kids who need visual support. I added a couple simple calendar and star drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 2nd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write the months in order on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about why we say "an hour" even though H is a consonant. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple apple, cat, and moon drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write two sentences one with "a" and one with "an" on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

The Holocaust word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
The Holocaust word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Holocaust puzzle set for my 5th graders during our World War II unit. This one I handled carefully because the topic is heavy. The kids had heard the word but didn't understand what happened or why we study it. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Holocaust, Nazi, persecution, Jewish, concentration camp, ghetto, Anne Frank, diary, survivor, liberation, remembrance, never forget, justice, and human rights. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to introduce the vocabulary with sensitivity, not graphic detail. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they ask sincere questions about what happened. The crossword I use for partners with a lot of discussion beforehand. I kept drawings simple — a candle and a yellow star — nothing violent or upsetting. Works for 5th grade only for this topic. Print and go but only after proper class discussion. Sometimes I have early finishers write one word that represents hope on the back. The kids handle this with respect.
