STEM Challenge Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
STEM Challenge Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this STEM challenge vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our STEM unit. The kids loved building and creating but had no idea what words like challenge, materials, or design meant when we started our STEM activities. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like challenge, design, build, test, improve, materials, teamwork, problem, solution, and prototype. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the STEM vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether building a prototype is the same as building the final thing. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple gear, blueprint, and lightbulb drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a design for a STEM challenge on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Grade 7 Life Science Heredity word search, scramble and crossword puzz
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Grade 7 Life Science Heredity word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this heredity puzzle set for my 7th graders during our life science unit. The kids knew some basics about traits but had no idea what words like genetics, DNA, or dominant meant when we started learning about how traits are passed from one generation to the next. They also kept mixing up genotype and phenotype, and they didn't understand how alleles worked. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like heredity, genetics, DNA, gene, trait, allele, dominant, recessive, genotype, phenotype, homozygous, heterozygous, Punnett square, and mutation . I also included a few like "chromosome" and "offspring" because they kept coming up in our class discussions . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "heterozygous" (it's a tricky one) or whether dominant and recessive are the same thing (they're not—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a Punnett square example or a trait chart nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the difference between genotype and phenotype . I added a couple simple DNA double helix and Punnett square drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 7th through 8th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers use a Punnett square to show a cross between two parents with different traits on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the habits stick without being preachy. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The American Revolution word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this American Revolution puzzle set for my 4th graders during our social studies unit. The kids knew the war happened but had no idea who fought who or what words like patriot, loyalist, or militia meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like patriot, loyalist, militia, Continental Army, British Army, George Washington, redcoat, minuteman, battle, independence, Declaration, victory, Yorktown, treaty, and freedom. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the key vocabulary finally click. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether George Washington was a general or a president first. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple drum and hat drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one fact about a patriot on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
