Grade 7 Life Science Heredity word search, scramble and crossword puzz

Grade 7 Life Science Heredity word search, scramble and crossword puzz
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

Grade 7 Life Science Heredity word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this heredity puzzle set for my 7th graders during our life science unit. The kids knew some basics about traits but had no idea what words like genetics, DNA, or dominant meant when we started learning about how traits are passed from one generation to the next. They also kept mixing up genotype and phenotype, and they didn't understand how alleles worked. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like heredity, genetics, DNA, gene, trait, allele, dominant, recessive, genotype, phenotype, homozygous, heterozygous, Punnett square, and mutation . I also included a few like "chromosome" and "offspring" because they kept coming up in our class discussions . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "heterozygous" (it's a tricky one) or whether dominant and recessive are the same thing (they're not—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a Punnett square example or a trait chart nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the difference between genotype and phenotype . I added a couple simple DNA double helix and Punnett square drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 7th through 8th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers use a Punnett square to show a cross between two parents with different traits on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Cosmetology Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this cosmetology vocabulary puzzle set for my 4th graders during our career exploration unit. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using key terms that cover everything from the basics of the profession (cosmetology, salon, esthetician, skincare, makeup, haircolor) to the tools of the trade (flat iron, curler, shampoo, conditioner, foundation) . I also made sure to include foundational science terms like collagen, elastin, melanin, and follicles, along with professional concepts like consultation and sanitation, because they're central to the practice . Science Fiction Story Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this science fiction story vocabulary puzzle set for my 4th graders during our creative writing unit. The kids loved space and robots but had no idea what words like sci-fi, alien, or futuristic meant when we talked about science fiction stories. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like sci-fi, alien, robot, space, future, galaxy, planet, laser, time travel, and technology. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the sci-fi vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether time travel could actually happen. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple spaceship, robot, and planet drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a short sci-fi story using three words from the puzzle on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
