Leadership Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Leadership Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this leadership words puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our social-emotional learning unit. The kids could say a leader is "the boss" but had no idea what words like leadership, inspire, or example meant when we talked about good leaders. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like leader, lead, inspire, example, listen, help, guide, decision, fair, kind, and confidence. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the leadership vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a leader always tells people what to do. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple star, crown, and handshake drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one quality of a good leader on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Grade 6 Energy and Forces word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Grade 6 Energy and Forces word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

Grade 6 Energy and Forces word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this energy and forces puzzle set for my 6th graders during our physical science unit. The kids knew about pushes and pulls but had no idea what words like kinetic, potential, or friction meant when we started learning about different types of energy and forces. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like energy, force, motion, kinetic, potential, friction, gravity, magnetism, electric, chemical, thermal, sound, light, and spring . I also included a few like "newton" and "joule" because they kept coming up in our class discussions about measuring force and energy . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "kinetic" (it's a tricky one) or whether potential and kinetic energy are the same thing (they're not—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a simple diagram or example nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the difference between a ball at the top of a hill (potential) and a ball rolling down (kinetic) . I added a couple simple ball, ramp, and spring drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 6th through 7th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers give one example of potential energy and one example of kinetic energy on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

We are always looking for fun ways to incorporate learning activities into the holidays. This is an engaging activity that will have students practice reading and math for St. Patrick’s Day after reading an adventure story about a leprechaun. This is a Mathematical St. Patrick’s Day Adventure titled Leprechaun Lou and the Elusive Pot of Gold. This resource is designed for 3rd – 4th grade math students. It may also be a great challenge for some of your 2nd grade students. This can be used as an independent early finisher activity . You may also choose to have students complete it together during small groups or math centers on St. Patrick’s Day, or even complete it as a class. Students will begin by reading a 2-page story. You may encourage students to pay close attention to the many numbers in the story and let them know that they will answer questions about many of these numbers afterwards. There will be 13 math word problems for students to read and answer. In order to solve the equations, they will need to revisit the text (great practice with rereading and searching for text evidence!) Each problem will prompt students to write an equation to solve the problem. An answer key is included. The last piece of this adventure is a writing prompt for students to respond to. They will be presented with a dilemma from Leprechaun Lou and will be writing about how to help Lou solve the dilemma. I hope you enjoy! Counting Money Coins word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this counting money coins puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our math unit. The kids could identify coins but had no idea how to count mixed groups or what words like penny, nickel, dime, or quarter meant when we talked about their values. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like penny, nickel, dime, quarter, cent, value, count, total, and dollar. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the money vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a dime is worth more than a nickel even though it's smaller. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple penny, nickel, dime, and quarter drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw three ways to make 25 cents on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Grade 1 Opposites word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Grade 1 Opposites word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

Grade 1 Opposites word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this opposites puzzle set for my 1st graders during our vocabulary unit. The kids could name a few opposites like big and small, but they had no idea about more nuanced pairs like heavy and light, or fast and slow. They also kept mixing up "hot" and "cold" when we started sorting things by temperature. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using pairs like hot/cold, big/small, fast/slow, tall/short, happy/sad, up/down, in/out, open/closed, day/night, loud/quiet, hard/soft, and wet/dry. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the opposites vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess, and the scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "happy" and "sad" are opposites or just different. The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a set of picture cards showing the pairs nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the contrast . I added a couple simple sun/cloud, big/small, and happy/sad face drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 2nd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw one pair of opposites on the back and label them. The kids actually ask for these now.

Abraham Lincoln word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Abraham Lincoln word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Abraham Lincoln word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Abraham Lincoln puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our Civil War unit. The kids knew he was on the penny and the five dollar bill but had no idea why he was famous or what the Emancipation Proclamation was. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Lincoln, president, Civil War, Union, slavery, emancipation, proclamation, freedom, Gettysburg, speech, debate, lawyer, Illinois, penny, and memorial. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the facts finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether Lincoln was the 16th or 26th president. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple top hat and log cabin drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one fact about the Gettysburg Address on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
