Circuits and Conductors word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this circuits and conductors puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our electricity unit. The kids could light a bulb with a battery and a wire but couldn't explain why some materials worked and others didn't. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like circuit, conductor, insulator, battery, wire, bulb, switch, complete, incomplete, flow, electron, metal, plastic, rubber, copper, and aluminum. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the difference between conductors and insulators finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a pencil lead will complete a circuit. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple circuit drawings with a battery, wire, and bulb but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers list three conductors and three insulators on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

The kids could see baking soda and vinegar fizz but had no idea what was actually happening or how to tell a chemical change from a physical one. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like chemical reaction, reactant, product, physical change, chemical change, fizz, bubble, color change, temperature, heat, light, gas, precipitate, burn, rust, and evidence. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a candle burning is a chemical or physical change. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple bubbling flask drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers list three signs that a chemical reaction has happened on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Music Notes and Symbols word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this music notes and symbols puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our music unit. The kids could sing along but had no idea what the dots and squiggles on sheet music actually meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like treble clef, bass clef, staff, measure, bar line, double bar line, repeat, note, rest, whole note, half note, quarter note, eighth note, sharp, flat, natural, and fermata. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the music notation vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or music class. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about what a sharp does or what a fermata means. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple note and clef drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw one note they learned on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Grade 2 Life Cycles word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this life cycles puzzle set for my 2nd graders during our life science unit. The kids knew about butterflies and frogs from earlier grades, but they had no idea what words like metamorphosis, larva, or pupa meant when we started talking about the different stages of life cycles. They also kept mixing up the order of the stages. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like life cycle, egg, larva, pupa, adult, metamorphosis, caterpillar, butterfly, tadpole, frog, seed, sprout, and seedling . I also made sure to include "life cycle" itself because it's the key concept for the whole unit . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "metamorphosis" (it's a long one) or whether a tadpole is the same as a larva (they're both life stages, but they're for different animals) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have life cycle diagrams nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the sequence of stages . I added a couple simple caterpillar, frog, and plant drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a life cycle of an animal or plant and label its stages on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "that" can be an adjective. The crossword I use for partners with picture clues. I added a couple simple happy face, big balloon, and small ant drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers describe an object in the room using three adjectives on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
