Letter G: PowerPoint and Worksheets: Lesson 7

Letter G: PowerPoint and Worksheets: Lesson 7
Special Resources, ELA, Special Education Needs (SEN), Language Development, Phonics, Kindergarten, Preschool, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

Learn Initial Sounds G: Lesson 7 teaches the letter Gg and its related phonic sound through a 32-slide PowerPoint lesson and 5 follow-up activity worksheets. All you need to teach the phonic letter F! Whether in school or at home, this series of phonic presentations can help you effectively teach initial/beginning sounds to all pupils, including those with special needs/dyslexia. This lesson is part of a synthetic, systematic phonics programme for all abilities including those suspected of being dyslexic. This lesson is in the first stage of the Reading Made Simple programme where we teach the initial, or beginning, sounds. The ability to hear the initial/beginning sound is stressed throughout, while we learn to associate each letter with its sound. Each lesson can stand alone but the activities will presume knowledge of the previous letters in the alphabet as Reading Made Simple teaches the initial sounds in alphabetical order. Special features of the Learn Initial Sounds G: Lesson 7 The PowerPoint is silent so that you can interact with your child in the best way for them: full instructions are provided at the bottom of each slide - be sure to show 'Notes'. Science of Reading Aligned Truly phonetic; no 'i' for 'ice-cream'. We focus heavily on phonemic awareness which is so necessary for a head start in phonics The child is given plenty of opportunities to learn the necessary skills - perfection is not expected in lesson 1. Still, the teacher will look for the development of the necessary skills as the child works through the alphabet. What is included in the Learn Initial Sounds G: Lesson 7? A 32-slide PowerPoint which teaches phonemic awareness, letter/sound correspondence and letter formation along with practice games 5 follow-up worksheets How can the Learn Initial Sounds G: Lesson 7 be used? It can be used in multiple ways: As the child learns each sound, you can use the PowerPoint lesson to reinforce your own lesson It can be sent home for a child to watch with his/her parents after being taught the letter Gg in class - this will then act as revision as well as training the parent as to what is necessary to help the child. Use in class Use at home by parents or for home education Suggested Method: Introduce each letter in turn to your pupil. Have a flashcard of the letter ready. Say each letter's sound to the child and ask him/her to repeat it thrice. Explain that some words begin with this sound. Give an example. Use the lesson as teacher training for yourself, to see how to teach your child, or use it with the child. Choose suitable activities (matching the ability of your child) from the pak of worksheets. Notes are suggestions only - use language appropriate to your pupil and be sure to interact naturally. However, do make sure that you focus on the hearing of the sounds at the beginning of words as this is much overlooked in the quest to help children learn the initial sounds as quickly as possible. Technical help: Use the PowerPoint in normal mode so that you can see the notes and use the 'Draw' tool when prompted. Some slides are interactive. Idioms and Phrasal Verbs Guide for English Learners

Idioms and Phrasal Verbs Guide for English Learners
ELA, Language Development, ESL, Vocabulary, Adult Education, Worksheets & Printables, Workbooks

A long alphabetical idiom list doesn't stick, and most people give up on it within a week. This guide organizes idioms and phrasal verbs by theme, by separability, and by communicative function, three different angles on the same small set, so the pattern sticks instead of the list. Once you see the theme or the function behind a group, the individual expressions stop needing to be memorized one by one. What's Included: - An idioms bank of 25 idioms organized by workplace theme, with meaning, example sentence, and a register note - A separable phrasal verbs section covering which phrasal verbs allow the object between the verb and particle - A communicative function section organizing expressions by what they do - A full worked dialogue between two colleagues discussing a delayed project - A 15-question gap-fill practice exercise with a complete answer key Who it's for: adult professionals (B1-C1+ English level) who already know grammar but want the natural expressions that make spoken English sound like a colleague's, not a textbook's, especially in day-to-day workplace conversation. How to use it: read one theme from the idioms bank and the matching phrasal verbs section together, then check the register note before using either one in a formal setting. Work through the gap-fill exercise once you've covered a few themes, and check it against the answer key. Professional English isn't about being perfect. It's about reaching for the expression a colleague would actually use, instead of the correct-but-flat version that comes from translating too literally. Once the pattern behind a group of idioms clicks, the individual expressions stop needing to be memorized one at a time, and the phrasal verb that goes with it stops needing to be looked up at all. Answer keys: provided for the gap-fill practice exercise. File type: PDF, 8 pages. Format: instant digital download, non-editable. © Business English Edge, 2026

Grade 2 McGraw-Hill Reading Wonders Words to Know - COMPLETE SET
ELA, Language Development, Vocabulary, Grade 2, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Practicing Wonders Words to Know is often a bit of a boring task for most students. That's why we made it a bit more fun. First of all, you can guide students through the book along with the vocabulary list. Here it shows the part of speech, the word, the definition and an example sentence. This way, students don't even need their books anymore to practice all of the words at home. Another fun element is the word search. This word search is based on the definitions, so the student is not given the correct answer right away. This way, they really have to dig into their memories to come up with the correct answer. After all of the practicing is done, it is time to do the test. You can present this by first giving the definition and then to let the student fill out the correct answer. The second part is a fill in the blanks exercise.

Getting kids to enjoy writing during the early elementary years is key. One way we can do that is to tie in their interests to the writing process. Snow days are a rite of passage in childhood, and are amazing opportunities to make memories of various sensory experiences. Learners will choose where their snow day adventure takes place, the tools they'll need, a project they'll build, and a good deed they'll do during their snow day! The SEL connections are varied, but focus on sharing a moment of joy with others who might need a hand, a smile, or a cup of cocoa on this cold day. Thinking about the way we think is a foundational skill for growing the executive functions our kiddos will use in the editing process. For this reason, a short checklist has been included at the end of page 4 so that learners can begin to go back and check their work. This key skill in developing healthy executive functioning is intentionally made visible to students to prompt ownership over the quality of their writing. STANDARDS: Meets CCSS Writing standards for grades 2-5. Don't forget to check out the Chef's Toolbox, Superhero's Toolbox, and Astronaut's Toolbox activities for more fun! These activities can be used with a whole class in addition to the writing challenge printable. This printable is optimal for 2nd-5th graders as they take on the cognitively heavy task of writing a narrative, while also supporting them with the scaffolding and inspiration in the provided idea matrix. BONUS: Take advantage of the 4+ extension activity ideas included in this printable. These activities will take their writing beyond the page and bring it to life in STEAM-supported outlets. What you'll get: a 4 page PDF including instructions, extension activity ideas, and 3 student pages. One of these pages is simply writing space for you to print off as many copies as you need based on the amount your students are writing. You'll also find the editing checklist to prompt students to edit their own work for spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
