Breaking the Big Words | Volume 4, Set 3
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Breaking the Big Words Volume 4, Set 3 Mastering syllable division helps young students become skilled decoders and confident readers. This phonics resource focuses on vowel pair and "bossy R" syllable patterns in 2-3 syllable words. The scaffolded activities allow students to first recognize new syllable types, then independently divide increasingly complex words. As supports fade, students generalize the "break" strategy to reading sentences and texts. Educators can use Breaking the Big Words to build decoding skills in small groups or as independent practice. The multisensory activities instill mastery through repetition with new content vocabulary. Set 3 specifically targets the V/V syllable pattern in bossy R and vowel pair words. Students will break down review words plus new vocabulary to reinforce learning. Master syllable division and watch reading confidence soar! The activities move from identifying compound sentences to combining simple ones using coordinating conjunctions (and, but, or, so, because).
