Spelling Crossword Jobs and Professions English
ELA, Language Development, Spelling, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, Crosswords Puzzles, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
This crossword puzzle is about jobs and professions! This is designed for spelling and vocabulary practice. When you fill the crossword correctly, you will find a hidden message! In this crossword, there are images as hints and the students have to name the professions to the horizontal rows of the crossword. The lines are connected so when the crossword is filled correctly, a hidden message will appear in the emphasized vertical row. The hidden message of this crossword is: All jobs are important! There are 19 words in this crossword. Jobs and professions are: Athlete, pilot, cleaner, judge, cook, builder, singer, astronaut, surgeon, chemist, lifeguard, musician, plumber, police, barber, vet, painter, engineer, teacher. The benefit of this kind of crossword puzzle is that once students understand the simple concept, they are able to proceed themselves regardless of their level. The answer of the crossword is on the second page, but students are able to tell whether they are right or not. If the hidden sentence is meaningful, then have done it right. If it doesn’t make sense, they will realize that; and then they can cooperate with their classmates to find the right solution. In other words, this worksheet is self-checking. This is a print-and-go and ready-to-use resource which can also be added to centers , or provided for substitute teachers. This activity can be used with small groups or pairs, or for individual work. It is also possible to use this crossword with students of English as a second language. This crossword is suitable for students of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade. You can also use this crossword with preschoolers if they are supported by an adult (for example as a holiday homework work with parents’ help). There are also other spelling crosswords like this in my Teach Simple page: https://teachsimple.com/contributor/thebrightestkid Answers are included.

Do you want to review adjectives with your second, third, or fourth graders? This product would be perfect. It's simple, to the point, and won't take up too much class time. It's set up so you can have a quick lesson and review on what an adjective is. This product is great for a quick review, or you could use it as a mini assessment . Students will be given fifteen sentences. They have to circle the adjective. To help reinforce the concept they also have to underline and draw an arrow to the noun that the adjective is describing. There may be more than one in a sentence. Recognizing where adjectives are in a sentence will help students with their own writing. When reviewing adjectives it's important to remind students that adding adjectives to their writing really helps the reader visualize what they're trying to say. This activity also helps students recognize adjectives that may not be used as often. This activity is also great to leave with substitutes!
