Community Helpers Doctors and Nurses word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this community helpers doctors and nurses puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our community unit. The kids had been to the doctor and knew a little about what nurses do, but they didn't know the words for things like stethoscope, syringe, or medicine. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like doctor, nurse, stethoscope, syringe, bandage, medicine, hospital, clinic, patient, checkup, thermometer, and help. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a stethoscope is used to listen to your heart or just to look cool. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple stethoscope, bandage, and doctor coat drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for K through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a picture of a doctor or nurse and label one tool they use on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
