World Geography: Countries of Europe word search, scramble and crossword

I made this countries of Europe puzzle set for my 4th graders during our world geography unit. The kids could name France, Italy, and Germany but had no idea about smaller countries like Belgium, Austria, or Greece. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Greece, Turkey, Russia, and Ireland. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the country names finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether Russia is in Europe or Asia. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple continent outline and Eiffel Tower drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one country and its capital on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
