About this resource

What's inside this resource

About 100 different flashcards all about Daily Routines and Activities!

In the classroom

Teaching tips & learning objectives

Learning objectives

  • Name 100 everyday actions in English using infinitive verb phrases

  • Sequence a full day in English, from getting up through going to sleep

  • Use synonym pairs for common actions (take a bath / have a bath / bathe)

  • Attach household, school, pet-care, and health vocabulary to picture cues

Teaching tips

  • Deal a handful of cards and have learners arrange them into a plausible day, narrating with time connectives (first, then, after that)

  • Play miming games — one student acts out '(to) sweep' or '(to) feed the pets' while the class guesses the card

  • Use the synonym cards to teach register and variation: go by bike/cycle, do the laundry/wash your clothes

  • Group cards into themed sets (morning hygiene, classroom, chores, celebration) for smaller vocabulary units

  • Pair the deck with daily-routine sentence frames ('Every morning I...') so cards move from recognition into production

Skills covered

  • Everyday-action vocabulary — 100 picture-supported verb phrases covering the full daily cycle.

  • Verb-phrase form — every card is presented as an infinitive '(to) ...' chunk, ready to slot into sentence patterns.

  • Synonym awareness — cards pair alternates such as (to) swim / (to) go swimming and (to) towel yourself / (to) dry yourself.

  • Day sequencing — the deck's order follows a day from waking to bedtime, supporting routine-narration tasks.

Questions teachers ask about this resource

How are the verbs presented on the cards?

As infinitive phrases in the pattern '(to) get up', one per illustrated card, with many cards carrying synonym alternates — (to) take a shower / (to) have a shower / to shower — so learners meet the natural variants together.

What themes do the 100 cards move through?

A child's day in rough order: waking and hygiene, getting to school, classroom and music activities, lunch and rest, outdoor play and pets, household chores, drinks and baking, birthdays and celebrations, dinner and dishes, bathing and bedtime, plus feeling sick and visiting the dentist or doctor, and a holiday/camping card.
