With these medial sounds clip cards, students will be able to practice fine motor skills while identifying the medial vowel sound in each CVC or CVCe word. What is Included: There are two sets of clip cards with 56 cards per set. The first set features a bold, colorful image as well as the word typed out with the medial vowel missing. The second set simply contains the image with no word clue for students. How to Use: Students will take a clip card, look at the image, then use a cloths pin or clip to mark the correct answer on the card. The teacher may also choose to laminate the cards for students to circle the answers with dry erase markers, or they can allow students to cover the answer with mini erasers or other small manipulatives. When to Use: Literacy Center - These clip cards make a great literacy center for students learning to identify the vowels in words. Playing the Game After the first page, there is a quick intro to the game. After this the first train sequence will begin. There will be some winter scene outside along with seven letter I words. This is automated and will move onto the question page automatically. On the question page you will have four options, choose the select button for the right answer. Letter recognition sorting mats. Beginning Letter Sound Recognition. ABC Mats Beginning Sounds Cut and Paste Worksheets This resource can be used in two ways. You can print on color paper, laminate and use as sorting mats. Add velcro to the pieces to make it more fun and easier to use. Add a dry erase marker for the letter tracing activity. You can also use this same resource as worksheets. Kids will cut and paste the pieces to be sorted, then trace the letters and color the pictures. I use them in both was. We use the laminated mats in class as literacy centers or small group activity. And I send the same pages as homework or kids use it as extra practice in class. I like that kids find it comforting to use the same activity in a different version as it is already familiar but also new in a way. It is especially beneficial with kids needing more practice with their letter recognition. If you like this resource you may find other ABC resources in my store useful. There is are pages with just letter tracing for more handwriting practice or the ones with letters and simple sentences for even more handwriting practice that helps with early sentence formation skills. With this AN words CVC word sentence and picture matching literacy center , students can practice reading comprehension and reading fluency. This reading comprehension activity uses decodable sentences, with words that follow the CVC spelling rule, as well as bold, easy to recognize pictures to match or sort. This AM Word Family packet includes: This resource includes as set of sentence cards that focus on AN words and early sight words. Each sentence has a colorful picture to match the sentence. How to Use this Resource: In this literacy activity, students will read each sentence on each card, and then they will match the sentence to the correct image. This activity will make a great literacy station for kindergartners and first graders who are learning CVC words and reading comprehension. This literacy activity allows students to receive tons of practice reading AN words in the context of sentences. These simple sentence and picture matching activity will allow students to have a tactile way to practice reading comprehension that focuses on words in the AN word family. A pack of 35 Phonic reading books with matching PowerPoints and workbooks to support learning. This is an incremental phonics reading scheme with a difference. Introducing just 10 words in each phonics family, the words are repeated from book to book, giving even those with very poor word recall the chance to learn to read fluently without having to decode every word. Ideal for dyslexics, or those suspected of being dyslexic and all children with a special need. These reading books make the pupil feel safe - they have already met every word introduced in the stories. They have the skills to read them themselves. This is empowering and confidence-building. The books cover these sounds and must be taught in this order: CK; OO; SH; CH; ND/NT; NK; TH; NG; AR; OR; A-E; I-E, O-R, U-E, AI, EA, OA, IGH Rationale: It has long been proven that teaching children to decode is a powerful tool for teaching reading, as opposed to the Look and Say method. However, this has led to a proliferation of reading books that throw as many words with a shared phonics sound into a book as possible, not realising that some children with very poor word recall find it hard to recognise words when they see them again without much repetition. To combat this problem, while we recognise that, technically, once a child has been taught a new sound s/he can sound out many words with that new sound, when it comes to reading fluently a child needs a core set of words in each family that they can recognise, which can act as a launch pad as they gain confidence. These books have been designed accordingly. For each sound family, just 10 words are studied with the help of the workbooks and are then repeated throughout the books, each book building on the vocabulary that has already been learned, repeating it and including it in new phrases as new sounds are learned. As the programme progresses, new sounds from the learned families are incorporated to widen vocabulary, while taking care to maintain fluency. The books are designed to limit guessing (though most children will try and guess, which must be avoided at all costs). Pluses of this phonics reading programme Easy to print Cheap to buy compared with expensive reading schemes They are just as effective as the best reading programmes out there, and more importantly, they have been tried and tested on real children with severe difficulties and proven to work if the child is taught as outlined. Aligned with the aims and objectives of LETRS and the Science of Reading. They work! My pupils tell me if they don't work, so I re-edit them and try them before I put them out for the general public. Introduces most high-frequency words in the phonics family to which they belong, and gradually introduces genuine, non-decodable sight words into the text without causing overload or throwing the child off course. What is included? Each book is 12/16/20 pages long, with minimal colour pictures to make printing cheaper and to help tell the story when words are minimal Each book comes with a matching PowerPoint, making it suitable for online teaching, for private tutors, parents, classroom assistants, etc... OB Words Matching Mats

Students can practice reading comprehension skills with these OB word family mats. Students can practice reading OB words in isolation and in the context of sentences. The words in this set follow a CVC or CCVC spelling pattern. Included in this resource: This resource includes one word mat and one sentence mat, both for reading OB words in insolation and in context. There are also picture cards that correspond with each word and sentence. To complete this activity, students will read each OB word or sentence on the mat and then match the corresponding pictures. Students can work independently or with a partner to complete this activity. How to Use these OB word Family Mats: The students can simply lay the images on top of the word or sentence. They can be placed in a file folder utilizing hook and loop fasteners to attach the images. A magnetic activity can be created by using a baking sheet and magnets to affix the images. Students will love the hands-on nature of this activity.
