This is a File Folder Game called Honey Bee Vowel Teams. It is for Long e and Long i. This product includes: 2 Versions of the phonics game, Honey Bee Vowel Teams, Long ē & Long ī are included. Level 1: This version is appropriate for most kindergarten to 1st grade students. However, this version may be suitable for some 2nd and even 3rd graders who are still developing their phonics skills. Level 2: This version is appropriate for most 2nd – 3rd grade students. However, some kindergarten or 1st graders may be ready for the challenge. Both Level 1 and Level 2 versions of the game include the following: Game Cover Sheet (attach to the front of a file folder) Instead of attaching the game covers to the front of the folder, you could utilize both versions of the game by attaching Level 1 to one side and Level 2 to the other. This option allows for more differentiation and student choice. Honeycomb Game Board (2 slides – attach to the inside of the file folder) Spinner 16 Bee Markers (4 teal, 4 green, 4 pink, 4 purple) Directions Word List All you have to do is print and get everything assembled. You will: Glue the cover sheet on the front of the file folder. Print the game markers and spinner on cardstock. You can also laminate to make them more durable. Put the two game board pages together like this on the inside of the file folder Puncture a hole in the middle of the spinner board. Students can use a pencil and paper clip to make a spinner. Another option is to attach a brass fastener (brad; split pin) to the center of the spinner board instead of using a pencil.

In the second game, there are six stars containing one word each. Again, one picture will appear. Press the correct star that corresponds to the picture. Incorrect answers will dim and correct answer will flash. Press the arrow button to move onto the next word. About the Game This powerpoint contains two different games. Both practice reading and remembering key long E phonics words. This is a pack of 8 AR spelling puzzles. How do the AR spelling puzzles help with phonics? Some children have difficulty understanding that two letters can make one sound. As the letters AR are on one part of the picture card - together - the physical manipulation of one piece of the puzzle, with two letters and one sound helps the child to understand. Who are they for? Any child needing help to hear the letters AR as one sound in words. They can be used in the Early Years (Pre-K and K) or for Early intervention, or for Special Needs. Instructions (included in the download): Puzzle Type 1: Cut around the whole of each mini puzzle (4 per page) and then cut each picture into its divisions. To play: ·The child chooses any card. S/he must the find the remaining part/s of the picture to fit together to complete each word. ·As the child does this the teacher should draw the child’s attention to the letters on each card. Ask questions such as: ‘What does ‘farm’ begin with? ‘So ‘f’ comes first’. ‘What sound can you hear next? f-ar?’ ‘Can you find the piece with ‘ar’?’ ‘What sound does ‘farm’ end with?’ ‘Can you find the last piece with ‘m’?’ ·Once each picture is formed, the child should then sound out the word, moving each piece to the right as it is sounded. Emphasise the saying of one sound ‘ar’ for the letters ‘ar’ together. Puzzle Type 2: These puzzles should be completed after Puzzle Type 1. They consolidate learning. Cut each picture puzzle out. Cut out the separate letter cards. To Play: The child chooses a picture. The child sounds out the word: s-t-ar; c-ar; f-ar-m; sh-ar-k; b-ar-n; d-ar-t; c-ar-d; ar-m; c-ar-t; p-ar-k. The child then finds the letter cards needed to spell each word, placing them in the boxes under each card. Ask questions as the child works as for Puzzle Type 1.

These unique sorting tasks offer a captivating approach to practicing words that conclude with digraphs in a lively literacy center. Three diverse sorting tasks are available to enhance the ability to read and recognize words that incorporate the ending digraph CK. Sorting Tasks Involve: Differentiating words belonging to the ACK family from those not in the ACK family. Separating images associated with the ACK family from those not related to the ACK family. Sorting between legitimate and fabricated ACK words. These low-preparation sorting activities are straightforward to set up. The educator will simply need to print the pages, cut out the sorting cards, and laminate them, if preferred. Laminating enables this literacy activity to be reused continuously in your literacy centers. Usage Methods: Establish a file folder sorting activity Affix magnets to the pieces to devise a cookie tray sorting activity Situate them in a box for a basic sorting activity To construct a file folder activity , position the two sorting mats on either side of a file folder. Utilize the word and picture cards to sort on the mats. You can affix hook and loop fasteners to the cards and mats, enabling the cards to stay in place once sorted. For the cookie tray sorting activity , attach magnets to the rear of each card. Position the mats adjacent to each other on the baking tray, and the magnets will ensure the cards stick to the mats. Pick the Apples — ea or ee Spelling Families Card Game: A game for 2 players A simple, fun board game I made to help children distinguish between ea and ee: two digraphs that sound the same but belong to different spelling families. Reading words with these sounds is straightforward once the patterns have been taught — but spelling is much harder. The child must remember not just the sound, but which family the word belongs to. Does feet use ee ? Does eat use ea ? This game gives children repeated, low-pressure practice sorting words into the right family, building the kind of memory that eventually makes correct spelling automatic. How to play: Each player takes a tree baseboard loaded with apple cards. Sound cards ( ea and ee ) and a couple of bad apple cards go into a feely bag. Picture cards are laid face up on the table. On each turn, a player draws a sound card from the bag and must find a picture card showing a word that contains that sound. A Word Bank Card is on hand for checking — the adult can help younger or less confident children locate the right word at first. A correct match lets the player keep the cards and move one apple from the tree to the basket. Draw a bad apple card, and the turn is lost. The first player to pick all their apples wins. Games make for stress-free learning! The bad apple cards introduce an element of luck that children love — and which serves a real purpose. When a child loses, it was the bad apple's fault, not theirs. For children who are used to struggling, that small thing makes a surprising difference. They stay in the game, stay relaxed, and the sorting and matching does its work quietly in the background. Useful for assessment too! Teachers will find the game useful for assessment too. Watch how the child approaches each picture card. Are they thinking about the sound and searching their memory for the right spelling family? Or are they recognising words by sight and hoping for the best? The answer tells you a lot about what to do next.
