Free Digital Gratitude Activity for Elementary Students
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Life Skills, Grade 3, 4, 5, 6, Activities
Free Digital Gratitude Activity for Elementary Students Engaging students meaningfully, especially on abstract concepts like gratitude, can present a challenge for teachers. The Free Digital Gratitude Activity is specifically designed to overcome this hurdle by fostering gratitude appreciation among elementary students through an interactive and fun exercise. Cleverly crafted to promote creative thinking, this digital activity encourages students to identify something they appreciate corresponding to each letter of the alphabet. Unlike typical activities where answers can be simplistic or repetitive, this method forces them to think innovatively and diversely about things around them which they are grateful for. The procedure is quite simple; after brainstorming their thankful item for every alphabet letter, they find a picture representing it and paste it on their slide. As an integral part of the learning process, they will then explain why each item was chosen in class discussions or presentations. For instance, 'X' could trigger expressions of appreciation for extra video game time. Versatile in application - From individual assignments at home to small groups in classrooms or even as an engaging whole group activity – the flexibility maximizes its utility across various teaching methods and settings. Efficacy beyond physical classrooms - Tteachers conducting online sessions have found it equally effective. Good Sportsmanship: How to Win and Lose Well
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Life Skills, Social Skills, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Activities
Help take the frustration on of winning and losing games by helping students learn about good sportsmanship. Have students learn that there are good ways to win and good ways to lose as well as negative ways of winning and losing. What is Included: This activity includes an instructional page as well as thumbs up and thumbs down cards. There are also 8 clip cards with various scenarios around kids winning and losing games for students to determine who had a good response and who had a negative response. How to Use: One way to use this activity is to give each student a set of thumbs up and thumbs down cards. The teacher will read the scenario on the card and students will hold up a thumb card depending on if the child in the scenario did the right thing or the wrong thing. A second way to use this activity is to have the students use clips to mark the correct answer for each scenario. Older students who are able to read on their own will be able to complete the activity this way. When to Use: This activity makes a great whole class activity by having students all listen to the scenarios together and hold up the correct card. The teacher can then discuss with students why the student made a good choice or bad choice. The clip cards can be used during center rotations, morning work, or small groups. Learning this skill is important for students so that they understand the feelings of others and how their actions can affect other people's emotions. This activity is low prep. The cards just need to be printed and cut apart. Laminating the thumbs up and thumbs down cards will allow them to be used multiple times. The cards can easily be stored in a task box when not in use.

Following Directions SEL Activity
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Social Skills, Special Education Needs (SEN), Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Activities, Worksheets & Printables
In this SEL product, you will get 3 handouts. One is the directions you will give to students with prompts for them to follow your directions. There are 6 prompts; cut out the 4 pictures, glue the bird on top of the tree, glue the ball on the left side of the tree, glue the puppy to the right of the tree, and glue the sun on the top right corner of the page. Then students are instructed to color the picture. There is a picture of the final scene if the students follow the directions. The 2nd one is the handout for the students to cut out images and glue them onto the handout. There are 4 images to cut out; a ball, a bird, a puppy, and a sun. They will glue around a tree. The 3rd is a fun mindfulness coloring sheet with owls (they are wise to follow directions) with the title "I'm A 1st Time Listener!" This is a great lesson for helping students put into practice after learning the tips for following directions and paying attention in school. You first can go over the key tips such as 1) Look at the speaker, 2) Listen to the directions, 3) Say O.K. (acknowledge the task), and then 4) Do the activity or task. Following directions is a great skill to model and practice. It is important to not assume students know this skill-especially after the pandemic. In my own work as a school counselor, I have noticed students have difficulty with even the most simple directions. Hopefully, this activity will help your students as well. This activity is a great follow-up to my Boom Deck on following directions here: https://teachsimple.com/product/following-directions-sel-boom-cards-with-audio In the Boom Deck above, the students will get to move objects based on the directions.
