Democritus – Introducing a Pioneer of Atomic Theory | PDF + H5P
Life Sciences, Science, STEM, History: World, History, Social Studies, Biographies, Inventors, Basic Science, Human Body, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Quizzes, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Projects, Activities
Democritus – Introducing a Pioneer of Atomic Theory Informational text, profile worksheet, and interactive quiz (PDF + H5P) 🧪📄 This resource introduces students to Democritus, one of the earliest thinkers to describe the idea of atoms. Although his theories were based on philosophy rather than experimental science, his work laid the foundation for what would later become atomic theory. The material is designed for use in grades 7–10 and works well in both subject-specific chemistry lessons and interdisciplinary settings such as history of science or philosophy of science. What’s included: Informational text on Democritus Printable profile worksheet Answer key for the profile Quiz questions based on the text (with solutions) Two extension tasks: – Students write their own questions about the text – Exchange and answer questions with a partner File formats: – Printable and digital PDF – Editable .docx version (text only) – H5P version for interactive use in LMS platforms (no images) How I use it: The material can be used as part of a chemistry unit introducing atomic models or scientific thinking. I’ve also used it in non-specialist substitute lessons, since the tasks are self-explanatory and include answer keys. Students first read the text and complete a short profile about Democritus, then move on to quiz questions for comprehension. The optional extension tasks promote active engagement and peer interaction, and are ideal if you want to add 10–15 extra minutes to the lesson. This resource works in traditional classroom settings, for independent work, or in digital environments thanks to the H5P version. It’s also useful for differentiating – more advanced students can create and exchange their own questions, while others focus on the basics. No extra prep required – just print or upload, and the lesson is ready to go. Have fun exploring the world of science with your students! Warmly, Lernfitness Did You Know? I teach with a certified therapy dog, and together we focus on creating a positive and inspiring learning environment.

Dinosaur Activities - Are Dinosaurs and Birds Related?
Research, Science, Life Sciences, Animals, Biology, Elementary, High School, Homeschool Resources, Middle School, Centers, Activities, Projects, Lesson Plans, Teacher Tools
Are Birds and Dinosaurs Related? This activity pack helps students explore the scientific evidence behind the connection between birds and dinosaurs. Instead of simply presenting one viewpoint, this resource encourages students to analyze the evidence and form their own conclusions. I developed this project with my son, who has Autism, in mind. He struggles with writing and organizing his thoughts on paper. Using sorting mat activities reduced frustration and made learning more engaging. As a result, I began creating similar resources to help other teachers and parents make learning more interactive and enjoyable. What’s Included in This Activity Pack? Sorting Activities – Helps students categorize and compare information. Research and Writing Assignments – Encourages deeper exploration and evidence-based conclusions. Critical Thinking Development – Supports analytical thinking skills. Dinosaur Recognition Practice – Reinforces knowledge of different dinosaur types. Comparison of Bird-Hipped vs. Lizard-Hipped Dinosaurs – Explores their significance in relation to evolutionary theory. Bonus Activities: Realistic Dinosaur Coloring Pages Dinosaur Information Sheets for guided research Total: 41 Pages Learning Objectives By completing all activities, students will: Identify and describe at least one difference between bird-hipped and lizard-hipped dinosaurs. Name at least two bird-hipped and two lizard-hipped dinosaurs. List at least two facts about Archaeopteryx. Compare feathers and scales by identifying at least two key differences. Explain the difference between cold-blooded and warm-blooded animals. Research both sides of the "birds from dinosaurs" debate and write a five-paragraph report comparing bird-hipped and lizard-hipped dinosaurs. Analyze whether the evidence logically supports the idea that birds evolved from dinosaurs. This resource provides structured, hands-on learning that supports student inquiry and engagement.

These prompts are clearly marked in the teacher copy to make instruction seamless. Whether you’re teaching in person or online, this lesson gives you everything you need to introduce photosynthesis and cellular respiration in a clear, structured, and student-centered way.

My Mount Rushmore (Inquiry Education Project)
Social Studies, History, History: USA, Geography, Research, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Activities, Projects
My Mount Rushmore is an engaging inquiry-based project where students select the four U.S. presidents they believe are most deserving of being carved into Mount Rushmore. Students research lesser-known presidents and debate who has left the biggest impact and legacy. The project includes an instruction guide, research resources about American presidents, a class Google Form to collect votes, and a Mount Rushmore graphic for students to illustrate their picks. This versatile project works well as an in-depth research activity or a lighthearted debate to fill time during testing seasons. It also serves as an excellent recap project for civics and history classes by connecting curriculum back to the Oval Office. My Mount Rushmore provides flexible materials for individuals, small groups, or entire classes to research, discuss, and reimagine an American landmark.

Ocean Animal Report
ELA, Writing, Science, Life Sciences, Animals, Research, Grade 2, 3, Activities, Projects
This is an Ocean Animal Report utilizing the TIDE format. Included in this file you will find a parent letter about the project, prompts for each paragraph, TIDE graphic organizers for three paragraphs of informative writing along with writing paper for the first drafts of each, a blank page for them to create a cover for the report, a page for pictures of the ocean animal, final draft paper, an example of completed organizers and a final draft to match, and a couple of rubric options for both writing and/or oral presentation. The three paragraphs will address: • Why students chose the ocean animal they chose • A few basic facts about the ocean animal (e.g., habitat, diet, physical description) • A few cool or unique facts about the ocean animal Generally, this project takes my students about 4-5 days to complete. The oral presentation takes another day or two. I send home the parent letter a week in advance. I’ve done this with both second and third graders and found it to work well for both. Here’s a further breakdown of the paragraphs: Paragraph One Writing Prompt: Write an informative paragraph explaining why you chose the ocean animal you chose for your report. Paragraph Two Writing Prompt: Write an informative paragraph explaining three basic facts about your ocean animal (e.g., diet, habitat, physical characteristics). Paragraph Three Writing Prompt: Write an informative paragraph explaining three unique facts about your ocean animal (e.g., speed, communication, lifestyle). This resource is a thorough and engaging way to build research and writing skills.
