If you are looking to practice Fry's sight words, then this is without a doubt the resource for you and your students. In this resource, Fry's Fourth 100 Sight words are all featured. First of all, this set consists of a bunch of flash cards. These cards come in different styles, colored and with or without sharp edges. Just choose the set that is right for you. Then Print, laminate, and cut the cards as you please. The next way to practice these sight words is with the vocabulary lists. There is one that shows all of these words in alphabetical order, while the other list shows each word in order of frequency. And then there is the fill in the blaks worksheet. Tree ID Activity – Identify Common Trees Game

Test your pupil's knowledge of common trees with this simple, fun Tree ID Activity. Introduction and objectives This simple puzzle, helps children to learn to recognize a tree by its leaf and fruit. The trees included on the more advanced puzzle are: Oak Ash Beech Horse Chestnut Sweet Chestnut Hazel Hawthorn And on the easier one: Oak Horse Chestnut Beech Hawthorn How to use this activity The tree activity can be used as part of a science lesson on comparing trees, or as an assessment after studying different trees and their fruits, possibly in autumn time. It can be successfully used alongside our Leaf Sorting Activity. It can follow a walk where the fruits of different trees are collected along with their leaves, in autumn, and the children can use books or other sources to help them to identify the leaves and fruit - as such it can be a learning activity rather than a puzzle. Children can either draw lines from each fruit to ots tree and then its leaf, or the sections can but cut out and stuck onto another sheet (provided). There are two levels of difficulty, one activity with seven trees and one with four. Choose the one most suitable for each child. Who can use the Tree ID Puzzle? It can be used in the home, by teachers and in the home-school. It can be blown up large and completed together by a class/group. It can be made into a centre activity by cutting out the individual words and pictures and allowing children to put the ones that go together next to each other. I suggest laminating the pieces to make them more durable. Answers provided.

This oa decodable reading book can help children develop reading fluency. It is part of a series of highly structured decodable reading books with controlled vocab; all vocab is decodable using phonic knowledge the child already has (if read in sequence) and true irregular sight words are only slowly and gradually introduced. These books can help children develop reading fluency, providing sequential decodable reading passages that practice previously taught phonic sounds while introducing new ones. Together they form a highly structured phonic reading scheme and should be read in order. the previous books can all be found in the Lilibette's Resources store. They follow on from our previous sets of: CVC Reading Books with matching workbooks Consonant Blends Reading Books with matching workbooks Level 1 Red Books. with matching workbooks These books are best read in sequence. This book contains words with the following sounds: ck, oo, ee, sh, ch, th, ng, ing, ar, or, a-e, i-e and u-e, ai, ea and oa. I created these phonic readers as I saw the huge need for highly structured, fun-to-read, early-reading books. They are very popular. I am an Early Years Specialist Teacher (B. Ed) who is currently tutoring children with profound special needs in reading and writing following over 30 years of teaching phonics. Main features: •The Level 1 readers gently introduce sight words, but only those that cannot be learned in a phonetic family, or will be needed before the family has been studied. •All the other words can be sounded out using the necessary phonic knowledge. Pictures do not encourage guessing •Each book tries to tell a simple story. •Each book has been tested on children with severe special needs and those with none – all have loved them as they can read them! •The books should be read in order Who can use these reading books? All beginner readers of any age and ability Struggling readers of all ages and abilities, including special needs pupils with severe dyslexia/other processing difficulties Teachers, parents, classroom assistants, private tutors - anyone who needs them! Are these phonic reading books and workbooks aligned with the UK Gov requirements or LETRS? Yes - totally. Though not part of an approved programme they are based on synthetic, very systematic phonics. They are highly structured, repeating vocabulary, introducing sight words slowly and introducing a-e words while practising those listed above that have been learned before. How long are the books? The reading books are either 8 or 12 pages long. Why are these books FREE when other people's books cost so much? Are they of lesser quality? They are free as I regard the ability to read as being a fundamental right of every living person. Why should some miss out on top-quality resources because they cannot pay for them? In terms of content, they are top quality, carefully planned and sequenced with the aim of helping as many children as possible get started on the phonic road to reading. In the case of the New York State exams, there are eighteen “task models” used when designing questions. I use a z-score standardization procedure to adjust the scores so as not to bomb out their GPA while they are just learning. Reading Intervention for Struggling Readers: CVC Words: Book 1

This is the first in a series of books written for struggling readers. This is a series of decodable phonic books written for struggling readers. Struggling readers often have gaps in their phonic knowledge or have started to guess. These books help to retrain the child. They start back at the beginning with CVC words to ensure the child can read fluently at this level and to build shattered confidence. Sometimes children think they can read the easy books, but find that they have learnt to guess words which interrupts fluency and excludes them from comprehending what has been read. They build up, from CVC words, through consonant blends words with a short vowel sound, to ck, oo words. More are coming! They are useful for reading intervention for older pupils, maybe even of 11+ who are struggling to read fluently. Pupils should be able to blend fluently and have some phonic knowledge, though it may not be secure. Who is this book for? Older pupils who can read, but who have a reading age well below their chronological age. Such children may struggle to read simple text with accuracy/fluency and thereby lack comprehension. It is not for pupils who are just beginning to read with phonics. Please see my CVC decodable readers for books for such pupils. It is convenient enough for parents to use with their children, as well as for use by teachers and private tutors. Outline and steps This book begins at the beginning, with CVC words with a short vowel sound. In my remedial work with older struggling readers, I often find that it is here that difficulties arise, as the child may not have properly learnt to blend, and have started to guess. Therefore, this book gives confidence in reading passages that are totally decodable. I find that often these children need help to distinguish between similar words, either due to not looking at the initial or final sound and by retraining the child to read accurately using these simple texts - that do not look babyish - and then rebuilding from the bottom up, much progress can be made. I found the opposite; they were so relieved that at last somebody had actually given them a book they could read! Purpose These books have been written and tried and tested on some of my older pupils (mainly boys I admit), and they have proved very helpful. Most of my pupils have a dyslexic type problem, involving poor processing skills. It is crucial that they build a secure foundation for reading ability to build upon. This book, used as described will help to build that foundation. I am finding more and more such pupils desperate for help. You can help too! It is not hard but just needs a little understanding of the problem. PowerPoint While using this book, use the exercise on the included PowerPoint to strengthen the child's phonic blending skills and to re-train the child not to guess but look at all sounds in a word. Do have the child recite the vowel sounds at every lesson as these are often weak. Also do much practice of reading parts of words with a vowel and a consent, e.g.; ma/me/mi/ mo/ mu or at/et/it/ot/ut etc... There is a PowerPoint included with this book for this purpose, but you can easily make your own resources.
