Sign Language ASL Alphabet word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Sign Language ASL Alphabet word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Sign Language ASL Alphabet word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this ASL alphabet puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our language and culture unit. The kids were fascinated by sign language but had no idea how to fingerspell or what the hand shapes meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like A, B, C, fingerspelling, hand shape, deaf, hearing, sign, communicate, language, and alphabet. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the ASL vocabulary and hand shape recognition finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether the hand shape for "P" and "Q" are pointing in the right direction . The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple hand shape illustrations but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers practice fingerspelling their name on the back . The kids actually ask for these now.

Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the app vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether designing an app is harder than coding it. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple phone, app icon, and computer screen drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Indigenous Art Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Indigenous Art Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Indigenous Art Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Indigenous art vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our art and social studies unit. The kids could see carvings and woven baskets but had no idea what words like totem, petroglyph, or formline meant when we started learning about the art traditions of North America's First Peoples. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using terms from the glossary like petroglyph, pictograph, totem, formline, ovoid, crest, clan, potlatch, kiva, kachina, pictograph, petroglyph, formline, and material culture. I also included a note about artist as a concept, since in many Indigenous cultures there wasn't a separate word for art or artist—the focus was on the process and purpose rather than the product . The puzzle helps students see the diversity across regions, from Northwest Coast totem poles to Southwest pueblos, and breaks down the stereotype that all Indigenous art looks the same. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or during indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a pictograph is carved or painted, or whether a kiva is a room or a building. The crossword I use for partners or as a review after a lesson, and sometimes I have them reference the glossary page from our unit for support. I added a couple simple line drawings of a totem, a kiva, and a bentwood box but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers choose one term from the puzzle and draw a simple illustration of it on the back, or write a sentence about how it relates to a specific group or region. The kids actually ask for these now.

Spring Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this spring vocabulary puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our seasonal unit. The kids could name rain and flowers but had no idea what words like blossom, sprout, or thaw meant when I tried to teach them about the changing season. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like spring, rain, flower, bloom, blossom, sprout, grow, green, grass, tree, bird, nest, butterfly, bee, sun, warm, thaw, puddle, and rainbow. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the spring vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a bloom and a blossom are the same thing. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple flower, butterfly, and raindrop drawings but nothing too busy. Works for K through 2nd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw their favorite spring activity on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Spanish Nature and Environment word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Spanish nature and environment puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our Spanish and science unit. The kids could name nature words in English but had no idea what words like árbol, río, or montaña meant when we started learning Spanish. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like árbol, río, montaña, mar, lago, cielo, tierra, flor, hoja, semilla, planta, sol, luna, estrella, lluvia, nieve, and viento. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the Spanish nature vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "río" and "arroyo" are the same. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple tree, river, and sun drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a Spanish nature word for something they saw outside today on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Active Listening word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this active listening puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our social-emotional learning unit. The kids could hear someone talking but had no idea what words like listening, eye contact, or focus meant when we talked about really paying attention. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like listen, eye contact, focus, nod, ask, wait, turn, understand, quiet, and respect. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the active listening vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether hearing and listening are the same thing. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple ear, eye, and nodding face drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one way to show someone you are listening on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Number Patterns word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this number patterns puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our math unit. The kids could count but had no idea how to find the rule in a pattern like 2, 4, 6, 8 or 5, 10, 15, 20. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like pattern, sequence, rule, term, next, before, add, subtract, multiply, divide, increase, decrease, even, odd, and predict. Examples include +2, +5, +10, -3, and doubling. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the pattern vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about what comes after 20 in the pattern 2,4,6,8. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple number line and arrow drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write the next three numbers in the pattern 3,6,9,12 on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
