Collaboration Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Collaboration Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this collaboration words puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our group work unit. The kids could work together but had no idea what words like collaborate, partner, or contribute meant when we talked about teamwork. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like collaborate, partner, share, listen, help, contribute, idea, plan, team, together, and respect. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the collaboration vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether working alone is sometimes better than working with a partner. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple handshake, puzzle piece, and star drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one thing a good collaborator does on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Folktale Elements word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this folktale elements puzzle set for my 3rd graders during our reading unit. The kids loved stories like Anansi the Spider and Brer Rabbit but had no idea what words like folktale, fable, or moral meant when we talked about the parts of a folktale. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like folktale, fable, myth, legend, tall tale, fairy tale, moral, lesson, trickster, folk hero, oral tradition, storyteller, ancestor, culture, and wisdom. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the folktale vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a fable always has animals. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple turtle and hare drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. DIY Science Experiments Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
DIY Science Experiments Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this DIY science experiments vocabulary puzzle set for my 4th graders during our hands-on science unit. The kids loved doing experiments, but they had no idea what words like hypothesis, observation, or variable meant when we started talking about the scientific method. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like science, experiment, hypothesis, observation, variable, data, result, conclusion, test, and materials . I also included a few like "safety" and "goggles" because they kept coming up in our class discussions . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess, and the scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "hypothesis" (it's a tricky one) or whether a variable and a control are the same thing (they're not—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a simple scientific method anchor chart nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see how the terms are connected . I added a couple simple beaker, magnifying glass, and safety goggles drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a simple hypothesis about something they could test on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Architecture Around the World word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this architecture around the world vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our global studies and art unit. The kids could name a few famous buildings like the Eiffel Tower and the Pyramids, but they had no idea what words like pagoda, mosque, or igloo meant when we explored the many ways people build homes and structures around the world. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like pagoda, mosque, igloo, hut, yurt, adobe, castle, temple, tower, and skyscraper. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the global architecture vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a yurt is a home or a tent (it's a home—a portable round tent used by nomads in Central Asia). The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've looked at pictures of different types of buildings around the world. I added a couple simple pagoda, igloo, and castle drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Butterflies Life Cycle and Species word search, scramble and crossword

Butterflies Life Cycle and Species word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this butterflies puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our spring science unit. The kids knew butterflies were pretty, but they had no idea about the four stages of their life cycle, what words like chrysalis, metamorphosis , or proboscis meant, or that monarchs migrate thousands of miles . They also kept mixing up the caterpillar stage with the adult stage. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using the key life cycle vocabulary: egg, larva, caterpillar, pupa, chrysalis, adult, metamorphosis, proboscis, nectar, migration, monarch, wings, antennae, and insect . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of chrysalis (it’s a tricky one) or whether a caterpillar and a larva are the same thing (they are—the kids always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners, and I usually have a life cycle diagram and a picture of a proboscis nearby for the kids who need the visual support . Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw and label the four life cycle stages on the back, or write one way butterflies help plants grow . The kids actually ask for these now.

Fiber Arts and Weaving word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Fiber Arts and Weaving word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this fiber arts and weaving puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our art unit. The kids could see fabric and yarn but had no idea what words like weave, loom, or warp meant when I tried to explain the process of making cloth. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like fiber, yarn, thread, weave, loom, warp, weft, pattern, tapestry, rug, basket, crochet, knit, felt, and wool. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the fiber arts vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after art class or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether knitting and weaving are the same thing. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple loom and thread drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one fiber material on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
