The kids could name a few jobs like park ranger and recycling worker, but they had no idea what words like hydrologist, ecologist, or sustainability meant when we talked about careers that help protect the planet. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like ecologist, hydrologist, geologist, environmental engineer, conservation, wildlife, sustainability, climate, and policy . I also made sure to include "renewable energy," "resource management," and "climate scientist" because they came up in our conversations about green careers. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "hydrologist" or whether an ecologist and a biologist are the same thing. The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched short career videos. I added a couple simple leaf, wind turbine, and water drop drawings but nothing too busy.
