Engineering Careers word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this engineering careers puzzle set for my 4th graders during our career exploration unit. The kids could name a few engineering jobs like civil and mechanical, but they had no idea about the incredible range of engineering specialties—or what words like prototype, design, or solve meant when we talked about what engineers actually do. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, software, aerospace, environmental, design, build, test, and bridge. I also made sure to include "prototype" and "solution" because they came up in every career video we watched. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether an aerospace engineer works on planes or spaceships (both, actually). The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched short career videos. I added a couple simple bridge, rocket, and gear drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one engineering career from the puzzles and write what they do on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Animal Babies and Their Names word search, scramble and crossword puzzle activity ⭐ I made this animal babies puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our life science unit. We were learning that a baby cow is called a calf and a baby kangaroo is called a joey, but the kids kept mixing them up. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using pairs like cat/kitten, dog/puppy, duck/duckling, frog/tadpole, and horse/foal. Nothing complicated. ⭐ The PDF is four pages total. Three pages are the puzzles and one page has all the answer keys. The word search works great for quiet morning work. The scramble gets them arguing (in a good way) over whether "piglet" or "shoat" is the right answer. The crossword I save for partners. I added a few simple animal drawings but kept it clean so it prints nicely in black and white. ⭐ Works for 1st through 4th grade. Print and go. The kids could sound out individual letters but got confused when two letters made one new sound, like "sh," "ch," or "th." So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like ship, shop, fish, brush, shell, shoe, chair, cheese, lunch, chin, beach, chalk, thumb, three, bath, moth, math, whale, wheel, whistle, phone, photo, graph, sock, lock, duck, and chick. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the sh, ch, th, wh, ph, and ck digraphs finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "wh" sounds different from "w." Reading Response Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this reading response vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our reading unit. The kids could read a book but had no idea what words like response, opinion, or evidence meant when we asked them to write about what they read. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like response, opinion, evidence, character, setting, plot, theme, connect, and question. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the reading response vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether evidence has to come from the book. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple book, pencil, and thought bubble drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one sentence about a book they read using three words from the puzzle on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Spelling Patterns -able-ible word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this spelling patterns puzzle set for my 4th graders during our word study unit. The kids could read words like "comfortable" and "possible" but had no idea when to use -able versus -ible. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using -able words like comfortable, laughable, likable, manageable, noticeable, payable, peaceable, reasonable, reliable, and washable, and -ible words like audible, edible, flexible, horrible, incredible, possible, responsible, sensible, terrible, and visible. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the spelling patterns finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "likeable" is spelled with an e or not. The crossword I use for partners. Grade 4 Ecosystems and Food Chains word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this ecosystems and food chains puzzle set for my 4th graders during our life science unit. The kids could name a few animals and plants but had no idea what words like producer, consumer, or decomposer meant when we started learning about how energy moves through an ecosystem. They also kept mixing up the levels in a food chain and forgetting which direction the arrows should point . So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like ecosystem, producer, consumer, decomposer, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, predator, prey, food chain, food web, and energy . I also included a few like "sun" and "plant" because they're the foundation of every food chain . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Grade 7 Earth Science Deep Dive word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Earth Science deep dive puzzle set for my 7th graders during our geology and Earth systems unit. The kids knew the basics but kept mixing up the layers of the Earth —especially the difference between the lithosphere and asthenosphere . They also had trouble distinguishing weathering from erosion , and they always forgot whether "basalt" was oceanic or continental crust . So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using vocabulary from the Earth science core: crust, mantle, outer core, inner core, lithosphere, asthenosphere, tectonic plates, continental drift, convergent boundary, divergent boundary, transform boundary, weathering, erosion, deposition, magma, lava, and the types of rocks in the rock cycle . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess, and the scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "asthenosphere" or whether "lithosphere" and "crust" are the same thing (they're not—the lithosphere includes the crust and upper mantle) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review before a unit test, and I always have a diagram of Earth's layers and a plate boundary chart nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the relationships between the concepts . I added a couple simple core, mantle, and crust drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 7th through 8th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a cross-section of Earth's layers and label each one on the back, or name one type of plate boundary and what it creates (mountains, volcanoes, or earthquakes) .
