Sports Careers Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this sports careers puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our career exploration unit. The kids could name athletes and coaches but had no idea about other sports jobs like referee, trainer, or agent. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like athlete, coach, referee, umpire, trainer, agent, scout, commentator, announcer, general manager, team owner, physical therapist, sports medicine, nutritionist, reporter, photographer, equipment manager, and statistician. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the sports career vocabulary finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a sports agent plays the game too. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple whistle, baseball cap, and microphone drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one sports career and write what they do on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
