Homophones ThereTheirTheyre word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Homophones ThereTheirTheyre word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this homophones puzzle set focusing just on there, their, and they're for my 3rd graders. The kids knew the words but kept using the wrong one in writing no matter how many times I corrected them. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using only these tricky homophones and related practice words like belong, place, direction, and contraction. The word search includes there, their, they're, here, where, and other positional words to reinforce the differences. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the most common homophone error finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about which one shows ownership and which one shows location. The crossword I use for partners with fill-in-the-blank clues like "_____ going to the park" or "That is _____ dog." I added a couple simple arrow and apostrophe drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one sentence using all three words correctly on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Ecosystems Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this ecosystems vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our life science unit. The kids could name a forest or a pond but got lost when I threw in words like community, niche, or biotic. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like ecosystem, habitat, population, community, niche, biotic, abiotic, producer, consumer, decomposer, predator, prey, food chain, and energy. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over whether a rock is biotic or abiotic. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple tree and animal drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick three words and write one sentence about an ecosystem on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

The Oregon Trail word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
The Oregon Trail word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Oregon Trail puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our westward expansion unit. The kids had played the old computer game but had no idea what the trail was or why so many families made the dangerous journey. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Oregon Trail, pioneer, wagon, oxen, Missouri, Oregon, journey, supply, fort, river, mountain, disease, hardship, Independence Rock, and destination. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the real story finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about how long the trail actually took to travel. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple covered wagon and trail marker drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers list two items pioneers would pack for the journey on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Groundbreaking Athletes word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Groundbreaking Athletes word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this groundbreaking athletes puzzle set for my 4th graders during our biography and sports unit. The kids could name a few superstars like LeBron and Serena, but they had no idea about the athletes who broke barriers in their sports, from breaking the color barrier in baseball or tennis to winning gold in the face of adversity. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using names like Jackie Robinson , Althea Gibson , Jesse Owens , Serena Williams , Usain Bolt , and Katherine Switzer . I also included key terms like record , groundbreaking , legendary , and courage because they come up in every conversation about athletes who changed the game . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether it's harder to break a record or be the first to do something, and they always have opinions about who the "greatest" is . The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched short biographies. I added a couple simple trophy, star, and running shoe drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one athlete from the puzzle and write one fact about what they achieved on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Secondary Source Terms word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this secondary source terms puzzle set for my 4th graders during our social studies unit. The kids could read about history in books but had no idea what words like secondary source, summary, or interpretation meant when we talked about how historians retell the past. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like secondary source, summary, interpretation, textbook, biography, essay, documentary, analysis, and scholar. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the secondary source vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a documentary is a primary or secondary source. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple book, film reel, and scholar drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one example of a secondary source they have used on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Plate Tectonics word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Plate Tectonics word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this plate tectonics puzzle set for my 4th graders during our Earth science unit. The kids had heard of earthquakes but had no idea that the ground they stand on is actually broken into moving pieces. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like plate, tectonic, crust, mantle, core, boundary, divergent, convergent, transform, earthquake, volcano, mountain, drift, fossil evidence, and Pangaea. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the big idea finally click. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether continents are still moving today. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple puzzle piece drawings showing moving plates but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw the three types of plate boundaries on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Word search & scramble puzzle worksheet activities for kids 2nd and 3rd grades to 4th and 5th grades, also solution for the puzzles is included ⭐ This document contains a word search and a word scramble activity. The materials were created during an afternoon when student engagement was low. The objective was to provide an activity that resembled a game while also stimulating cognitive function. The puzzles proved effective in achieving this goal. The PDF document is four pages in length. It includes two puzzles for student use (a word search and a word scramble) and two answer keys. Visual elements are incorporated to enhance engagement without causing distraction. The graphics are designed to be appropriate for the target audience. ⭐ The students in the class find these items enjoyable. They work on them in groups during the morning session, or they are provided to students who complete their work early to occupy their time. The word search activity has also been utilized as a quiet activity following recess. The word scramble activity often initiates discussions, such as the correct form of the word "recycle." The preparation required is minimal. The materials are printed, distributed, and then the students begin the activity. Occasionally, students are instructed to highlight or circle their preferred word and use it in a sentence. This extends the activity beyond simple enjoyment and enhances its educational value.
