Grade 7 Pre-Algebra Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this pre-algebra vocabulary puzzle set for my 7th graders during our math unit. The kids could do the calculations but kept mixing up terms like variable, coefficient, and constant when we started using more formal algebra vocabulary. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like variable, coefficient, constant, expression, equation, inequality, term, like terms, simplify, evaluate, solve, isolate, and inverse . I also included a few like "linear" and "function" because they kept coming up in our class discussions . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "coefficient" (it's a tricky one) or whether a constant and a coefficient are the same thing (they're not—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have examples of each term written on the board or an anchor chart nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the differences . I added a couple simple x and number examples but nothing too busy. Works for 7th through 8th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write an expression with a variable and label the coefficient and constant on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

This resource is a My Lenten Goals Journal which is great to have students demonstrate their writing skills within the topic of Lenten. This journal comes with a cover page and 3 journal entries. Students will answer 3 questions as they set goals for Lent: 1. What can I go without? 2. What can I do more of? 3. What can I do for others? There are standard writing lines and a box for illustrations. With younger students you may want to brainstorm as a class and write the sentences on the board first, then have students copy the sentence. With older students, they may complete their answers individually. These activities were designed to be completed by students in Kindergarten, First, or Second grades. Though these could be use with any student with the necessary ability and interest to complete them. Once finished, they can be used as formative assessments and students can pick their best one. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Diwali, Carnival, Holi, Lunar New Year, Oktoberfest, Mardi Gras, Day of the Dead, Eid, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Songkran. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the festival vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether Diwali is the Festival of Lights or the Festival of Colors (Diwali is lights, Holi is colors — they always mix them up). Elements of the Periodic Table word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this elements of the periodic table puzzle set for my 4th graders during our chemistry unit. The kids had seen the periodic table on the wall but had no idea what those letters and numbers actually meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like element, atom, symbol, proton, neutron, electron, atomic number, atomic mass, periodic table, metal, nonmetal, oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, gold, iron, and helium. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the basic vocabulary sink in before we dive deeper. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about what the "O" stands for on the table. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple box drawings like a mini periodic table square but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers look at a real periodic table and write down three element symbols on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
