CANDY CORN - the ever-popular Fall candy is here and ready to bring math to life for your Pre-K and Kinder learners. Even if you’re not a fan, you’ll fall in love with Dave the monster who talks all about his favorite sweet treat in the book, I Love Candy: a counting book . While counting down from 10 to 0, your learners will connect with Dave and his love of the seasonal candy, as well as empathize with him as they watch the number of morsels in his bowl reduce one by one. To reinforce concepts presented in the book, six worksheets and 3 hands-on activities are included in this product. As learners work through them, they’ll practice and strengthen skills in number identification, counting 0-10, 1-to-1 correspondence, sequencing, and number words. The hands-on activities are designed to add an element of fun to your math and/or seasonal curriculum. Use them in conjunction with the book and worksheets, or as stand-alone activities. Either way your kiddos will be engaged and ask to play again and again. In the first activity, learners will place designated numbers of candy corn into two bowls and compare the quantities using vocabulary such as greater than/less than. In activity number two, learners will practice counting, eye/hand coordination, and gross motor skills as they work to feed Dave a selected number of candy corn. Last, but not least, learners will count a chosen number of candy corn and find the white, orange, or yellow balloon labeled with the corresponding number. A bonus opinion writing activity is included that can be displayed in your educational environment. Learners will write “yes” or “no” to indicate whether or not they like candy corn. Then they will provide one reason to support their answer. Upon purchasing this product you’ll come to see it is a great addition to your math curriculum and seasonal toolbox. The book, most worksheets, and all activities are available in a color or b&w format. All worksheets are print and go and an answer key is included. Should you choose to laminate the book and activity pieces, they can be used time over time, bringing enjoyment for years to come. For further product details, check out the list below.
