Specifically crafted for grade 1, this resource focuses on the key areas of addition and subtraction - core subjects that require a solid understanding for mathematical progression. Making Math Concepts Accessible: This comprehensive package masterfully transitions your pupils from the physical world of mathematical tools like base-ten Dienes blocks, often used in early school years, into a visual and conceptual recognition. This vital leap enables students to move beyond basic tangible manipulations towards achieving proficiency with standard algorithms involved in addition and subtraction. Incorporation of Base-Ten Dienes Blocks: The included resources are meticulously designed, starting with calculations using rods to signify tens and units representing ones followed by introducing complex scenarios necessitating regrouping or borrowing while adding or subtracting respectively. Accompanying worksheets mirror the interactive lessons: initial exercises focus on numbers whose sum falls below ten before advancing onto calculations requiring regrouping. Similarly, children will learn subtraction methods that both avoid borrowing as well as employ it when necessary. An Ever-ready Toolbox for Teachers: As refreshing conveniences for teachers, this product is an ever-ready toolbox offering an unlimited number of randomized questions suitable not only for classwork but also homework assignments or even quick filler activities ensuring the complete assimilation of these concepts. Importantly too, should you need material ready at hand during those unavoidable substitute teacher days - worry not! The no-preparation-needed feature ensures seamless continuity in learning. Helen Keller Worksheet Packet

Helen Keller Worksheet Packet
ELA, Reading, Reading Comprehension, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

The majority of my worksheets are accompanied by a YouTube video, where I give teaching moments through stories. Some stories are about a particular subject, so the teaching moment will be aligned with the topic. But many books are simply entertaining stories where I “create” teaching moments such as… contractions, commas in a series, inferencing, cause/effect relationships, etc. I also always mention capitalization/punctuation because this is an often-forgotten skill. The videos are public, free, and available to anyone. Please know that these videos provide teaching ‘moments,’ not complete lessons on skills. These videos were created to reinforce previously learned skills, as well as preview future skills, depending on the age of the listener. Their purpose is to engage children through story, while at the same time, create a fun learning environment without them even realizing it. What You Get: This is a Helen Keller Worksheet Packet. It is a 24-page printable with answer keys included. How To Implement the Helen Keller Worksheet Packet: You can print off all of the worksheets in this packet or just what you need. After students have watched the video at least once, students will be ready to complete these worksheets and activities. These fun sheets can be used in Daily 5, small groups, as rainy-day activities, when the special area cancels and you’re scrambling to find something to do, on a Fun Friday, the dreaded dress-up week, for subs, etc. I hope you enjoy! FULL CATALOG OF DOWNLOAD LINKS AND ENCYCLOPEDIA INDEX HERE Lesson Snapshot Title: Keys Genre: Nonfiction (informational text) Subject: Science & Technology / Reading (Informational Text) Primary Topic: How keys work, key history, and modern “keys” Estimated Guided Reading Level (A–Z): O What This Lesson Teaches Best Explains what a key does: it tells a lock “yes” so something can open (door, box, or bike). Describes how the shapes on a key (bumps, grooves) match hidden parts inside a lock, including pins or pieces that must be lifted. Introduces the idea of a “master” key that can open several doors in big buildings. Summarizes how locks and keys changed over time (ancient wooden locks, Romans using metal keys, and later improvements). Shows that some modern “keys” aren’t metal (keycard, code, fingerprint) and connects keys to ideas like trust and belonging. Learning Goals Students will explain what a key does and what it can help open, using details from the text. Students will describe how a key’s shapes help it work inside a lock (bumps, grooves, pins/pieces). Students will identify what a “master” key is and why it can be helpful. Students will recount key changes “through time” mentioned in the passage (ancient, Roman, later improvements). Students will name at least one non-metal kind of “key” used today, based on the text. Students will explain how giving someone a key can show trust, using the passage’s wording/ideas. Key Vocabulary From the Text keyway — the opening a key slides into. grooves — long cut-in lines on a key. pins — tiny parts inside some locks that must lift. locksmiths — people who make or copy keys. electronic — using technology, not only mechanical parts. Cored Ed Encyclopedia Overview The Cored Ed Encyclopedia is a weekly series of lessons that you can pick up and use right away. These short readings fit into whatever time you have available. Each one includes a warm-up, a reading, and a set of questions, but it’s flexible — you can do just the reading, the full lesson, or skip the writing section if you need to. Each lesson focuses on a single topic so students don’t get lost. The writing is clear but never childish, making it perfect for grades two through five. Topics range from animals and science to history, inventions, and everyday things. No matter the level of the student, everyone should take away at least one new idea or fact from each lesson. The materials are easy to print, easy to explain, and require no setup. They work well for whole-class teaching, partner work, or independent study.
