Sight Words Fluency Game for Kindergarten through Grade 3 This sight words learning game helps build reading fluency with Fry's first 100 high frequency words. Students race to identify and "swat" the sight words called out by the teacher. The game can be played whole group or in small groups. Print the words on cardstock, laminate for durability, and cut apart to make game pieces. Provide each student with a fly swatter. The teacher calls out a sight word and students race to find and cover the matching word with their swatter. The first student to identify and swat the correct word wins the card. For more of a challenge, cover the swatters with an additional piece of laminated cardstock. Attach with packing tape or glue. The cover forces students to visually focus when searching for the called out word. Play the basic game without velcro for a quicker pace. Or add velcro dots to the word cards and fly swatters so the card sticks when swatted for easier scoring. Adjust the difficulty by calling out simple CVC words or longer words from Fry's list. This printable sight word game offers a fun and interactive way to build fluency with the first 100 essential words. It's perfect for whole group, small group, or independent practice in grades K-3.

Following Directions SEL Activity

In this SEL product, you will get 3 handouts. One is the directions you will give to students with prompts for them to follow your directions. There are 6 prompts; cut out the 4 pictures, glue the bird on top of the tree, glue the ball on the left side of the tree, glue the puppy to the right of the tree, and glue the sun on the top right corner of the page. Then students are instructed to color the picture. There is a picture of the final scene if the students follow the directions. The 2nd one is the handout for the students to cut out images and glue them onto the handout. There are 4 images to cut out; a ball, a bird, a puppy, and a sun. They will glue around a tree. The 3rd is a fun mindfulness coloring sheet with owls (they are wise to follow directions) with the title "I'm A 1st Time Listener!" This is a great lesson for helping students put into practice after learning the tips for following directions and paying attention in school. You first can go over the key tips such as 1) Look at the speaker, 2) Listen to the directions, 3) Say O.K. (acknowledge the task), and then 4) Do the activity or task. Following directions is a great skill to model and practice. It is important to not assume students know this skill-especially after the pandemic. In my own work as a school counselor, I have noticed students have difficulty with even the most simple directions. Hopefully, this activity will help your students as well. It is also helpful for homeschool students and for parents who want to practice identifying numbers and practice one to one correspondence with counting with their children. This is an engaging activity for young learners to practice recognizing their numbers one through ten as they identify the number, say the correct number then place the exact number of goldfish into the fishbowl. This can also help with dexterity as they place the goldfish into each bowl. It also helps with the fundamental math of pointing to each goldfish and counting up as they place the goldfish with the correct number. Once the correct number of goldfish have been placed into the bowl, students can eat their yummy snack or repeat the activity a few more times. Teacher Tips: The preferrable way to complete this activity is to laminate these worksheets so they can be repeated over and over without destroying the worksheet with the goldfish on top. Another tip is to try copy the worksheet on blue paper to make it more interesting for students as well. This activity can be done at snack time as well with a pile of goldfish in the middle of the table and students need to place their goldfish onto the correct number in each bowl before they can eat their snack. Place different goldfish bowls (3 different worksheets are included in this packet) at different tables so it is more challenging for all students.

Are you looking for fun activities for practicing number recognition? These pixel art worksheets are perfect for getting your students to practice number identification for the number 1! Different options for how to use this resource: Cut and paste You can choose to print the colour square pages on white paper. -This is the simplest option, but it will take a lot of colour ink. Or you can choose to print the black line squares pages on colour paper. -This will use a lot less ink, but it will take a little more work to prepare. -You may struggle to find colour paper in all the colours I have used. If you have a problem finding the right colours, you can generally substitute a different colour if you need to. Simply look at the answer key to see what the pictures are and choose an appropriate substitute colour. Colour by number You will only need to print the worksheets and allow the students to colour the squares themselves. Preparation: Worksheets 3 printing options: 1. Full colour - best if you will be able to use all the same colours that I have used. 2. Partial colour – I have left the colours blank. You will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . This is best if you need to make some substitutions because you are printing on colour paper and cannot find all the correct colours. 3.
