UB Words Matching Mats

Students can practice reading comprehension skills with these UB word family mats. Students can practice reading UB words in isolation and in the context of sentences. The words in this set follow a CVC or CCVC spelling pattern. Included in this resource: This resource includes one word mat and one sentence mat, both for reading UB words in insolation and in context. There are also picture cards that correspond with each word and sentence. To complete this activity, students will read each UB word or sentence on the mat and then match the corresponding pictures. Students can work independently or with a partner to complete this activity. How to Use these UB word Family Mats: The students can simply lay the images on top of the word or sentence. They can be placed in a file folder utilizing hook and loop fasteners to attach the images. A magnetic activity can be created by using a baking sheet and magnets to affix the images. Students will love the hands-on nature of this activity. The bold and colorful images will capture students' attention, and the easy to recognize pictures are sure to keep students engaged in learning. These literacy activities allow students to practice target words both in the context of sentences and in isolation. Where can these mats be used? Literacy Center - Students can work independently or with a partner to read these words Morning Tub or Basket - The cards can be placed in a morning bin for students to work on as students arrive to class. Small Group Activity - The teacher can choose a small group of students or a specific group of words for students to work on in a small group setting with the teacher. Hands On Assessment - The teacher can use these to test students on reading the target words in context or in isolation. Skills assessed through this activity: Reading UB words in context of a sentence and in isolation Reading comprehension The low-prep nature of this OT words matching mats activity makes it an easy to assign activity. The mats simply need to be printed out, while the matching cards need to be printed and cut. Lamination is optional for increased durability. This jet skis reading comprehension contains the following: Visualize on the Cover Start your lesson by taking a few moments to visualize the topic and share thoughts or feelings about it. Pre-Reading Trivia Students will write down one thing they already know about the subject and then read five more facts and discuss. These facts are fun, and the students will enjoy learning about the subject before reading more. Reading Passage The text is a high-interest reading passage with set paragraphs, roughly three to four paragraphs long. It contains a variety of themes about the topic, anywhere from history to technology. The passage is between 250 and 350 words in length. Mixed Questions The first question page contains four multiple-choice questions, each with a choice of four answers, and three written response questions that require a sentence or two from the student. Vocabulary Questions Practice seven key words from the text in this section across two activities. First section is scrambled words where students will unscramble three words given a clue for each. The second section is a word to meaning matching activity. Creative Writing In this question, the student will be required to write a five to eight sentence paragraph on a question related to the topic. Extension Activities This page is optional for fast finishers or to take home. There are several activities, each one requiring a different skill. Leaf Sorting Activity: Kindergarten Science Projects This Leaf Sorting lesson pack can help you to deliver the National Curriculum (or other Science curriculum for ages 5 to 6) for Science in Year 1. It is best carried out in autumn as the leaves fall, but can also be done in spring as new leaves emerge and children's interest in them can be excited. The Leaf Sorting Activity includes References to the relevant parts of the National Curriculum (but the activity does not have to be used in conjunction with the UK National Curriculum ). * 12 pictures of varying leaves, suitable for sorting according to vein pattern, formation and leaf properties (e.g. prickly/rounded edges, deep cut edges etc..) - in two sizes for whole class/group use or display. * a My Leaf recording worksheet * a sheet of 12 small pictures to sort, cut out and stick. How to sort leaves Leaves can be sorted according to several different factors. Sort by one property at a time. Edge - wavy, prickly, jagged, sharp etc… (let the children suggest ideas) Veins: One ‘spine’ vein with branches (many leaves) Like umbrella spokes (Nasturtium) Several main veins coming from base of leaf, with branches from each (Sycamore) Feel/look: soft, hairy, sharp, prickly, smooth, rough, tough, shiny etc… Colour: shade of green in spring/summer, or autumn colours (red, orange, brown, yellow etc…) Can the children find: All the prickly leaves? All the deeply notched leaves? All the leaves with leaflets? All the soft leaves? Etc… Children may dispute whether a leaf falls into a category or not. Use this as valuable discussion, always securing a good reason for their thinking. How to use the activity Class sorting: Let individual children hold up to 5 large leaf pictures. Can the children see two leaves that might match and say how they match? Now can they see if any other leaves fit that group - hold up the other leaf pictures one by one and see if they fit, passing the picture to another child to join the group, if that leaf fits. Does this leaf have …? Try sorting by various properties before letting the children take a leaf to sketch and describe on the ‘My leaf’ sheet. Group sorting: A small group of children can be challenged to find a way of sorting the leaves so that as many of them as possible are in a group. 1. Introduction Nowadays, learning mathematics should be one of the most fun experiences for children, so it is important that teachers or parents devise materials or educational games for students or their own children to see mathematics as a useful and didactic tool. That is why on this occasion, I have developed this beautiful proposal to practice multiplication, with a dinosaur theme. 2.Objective. -To make students love mathematics. -To make students see that mathematics is a useful and fun tool. - To achieve that the students learn mathematics and in this case multiplication in a playful and didactic way. 3.Order, outline and stages - Introduce your art class with relaxing music. Next, invite the children to guess what activity is coming up. - Now tell your students that today they will reinforce the topic of multiplication in a playful and educational way. - Ask them to take out their pencils or markers. - Now hand out the worksheets and let the students or your children start solving. - If you want to make this activity more exciting, you can tell them that you will set a timer. 4.Grades or ages This game is designed for children from 7 to 10 years old, especially for children who have already learned multiplication and want to reinforce it. How to apply It is suggested that the teacher or parent, print 1 game for each student, because these activities will be done quickly and in a playful and fun way. Print these activities on an A4 sheet, in color and make sure you have color ink, since it requires a lot of color. Then staple the sheets together and hand them out to your students or children. You will only need these materials and that the students or children have a pencil or colored markers. 7.
