U.S. Government | Constitution | Political Cartoon Gallery Walk

U.S. Government | Constitution | Political Cartoon Gallery Walk
Social Studies, Government, Grade 9, 10, 11, 12, Activities

The U.S. Government | Constitution | Political Cartoon Gallery Walk is an interactive, educational tool designed to engage students in a creative and intellectual exploration of the US Constitution. The focus is specifically on Articles 1-3, which cover the three branches of government. This unique resource uses eight different political cartoons to immerse students in understanding socio-political nuances and constitutional interpretations. Walkthrough: Classrooms are transformed into spaces reminiscent of museum exhibits. The classroom becomes a gallery walk where each exhibit contains a political cartoon related to specific articles or sections within the US Constitution for analysis using provided prompts. Active learning techniques allow for movement while stimulating intellectual discussion and interpretation among peers. Comprehension Enhancement: To cater to differing student abilities there are two levels of Answer Cards provided. This versatile teaching tool can be adapted based on your class's needs. Creative Activity : Beyond core activities - Students can also create captions or thought-bubble dialogues for one character in each cartoon, showcasing their comprehension creatively! Bonus Warm-Up Task & Exit Card Activity : An optional warm-up task makes use of an online infographic with corresponding questions/discussions as starters. An exit card activity encourages learners to design their own political cartoons— promoting expression, creativity and assessment while improving understanding simultaneously. In Conclusion: This dynamic pedagogical scaffolding offers varied approaches ranging from whole-class discussions to small-group analyses up until individual assessments through homework assignments—it adapts as you teach! It embraces individuality while fostering collaborative exploration— equipping grade 9-12 educators effectively across social studies subjects focused on government content - making constitutional studies more engaging than ever before!

The Southern Colonies in North America, a classroom skit

The Southern Colonies in North America, a classroom skit
Social Studies, History, History: USA, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Activities

This play complements the other plays I have on TeachSimple about the colonial era in American History. You can also find the Life in the Middle Colonies and Life in the New England Colonies plays here. My 7th graders have enjoyed these for years. However, these work well for all grades between 6th and 12th. History comes alive in the classroom when students are using plays and skits. Reader's Theater is a great way to enhance any lesson, including the southern colonies, either to introduce some of the characteristics of this region or reinforce what you have been teaching. There are four roles in this play. It will take about 15-20 minutes to complete. Although the play was created by me it is based on an actual historical figure of that time - Henry Middleton and the Middleton family. The Middleton Plantation still exists in the Charleston area in South Carolina. The gardens he started are still there. All of my skits are written to engage students and get them thinking. This is what I call a "lesson enhancer". It will help add to any lesson on life in the southern English provinces.

Robert Wilhelm Bunsen – A Scientist Behind the Flame Comprehension Activities A reading and activity set for chemistry lessons (grades 7–10) 🔥🔬 (PDF + H5P) ⚛️📘 A printable and digital resource for grades 7–10 science and cross-curricular teaching 🧪🧠 This resource introduces students to Robert Wilhelm Bunsen, a chemist best known for developing the Bunsen burner – a piece of lab equipment many students first encounter in middle or high school science. But Bunsen’s work went far beyond that: his research on spectroscopy and chemical elements helped lay the foundation for modern analytical chemistry. This material offers a straightforward and accessible way to bring scientific history into your classroom. The short informational text is written in student-friendly language and is paired with activities that help learners understand and retain what they’ve read. It’s also well suited for substitute lessons, since the tasks are self-explanatory and don’t require prior knowledge. What’s included: Informational text about Robert Bunsen’s life and scientific contributions Student worksheet for creating a profile based on the reading Quiz questions to review content, with full solution sheet Two optional follow-up tasks: – Write your own questions about the text – Exchange and answer partner questions File formats: – PDF for easy printing or sharing – Editable DOCX (text only) – H5P version for use in digital classrooms (without images) How it can be used in class: You can use this material to introduce Bunsen during a unit on lab safety, spectroscopy, or chemical elements. I’ve also used it as a quick addition to practical lessons that involve Bunsen burners, giving students historical context for a tool they use regularly. The H5P format supports digital learning environments, offering students the chance to complete the quiz interactively. No complex setup is needed – just print, project, or upload, and the lesson is ready. A simple way to bring a historical figure into a modern classroom context. Have fun exploring the world of science with your students! Warmly, Lernfitness Did You Know? I teach with a certified therapy dog, and together we focus on creating a positive and inspiring learning environment.
