This letter I emergent reader is a great book for practicing beginning sounds. This book is a low prep activity for students to make and take home to practice the initial sound of the letter I. These beginning readers are perfect for any preschool or kindergarten classroom where students are learning about letters and letter sounds. Students will color each picture and then cut the pages apart. The pages will then be stapled together in a book for students to read over and over to practice the letter I sound. There are pictures that focus on the short I sound and the long I sound. This emergent reader includes a cover page and seven different "I is for..." pages that all focus on the short sound of the letter I in the initial position of the word. Need a fun activity for students to do when you can't go outside and play? This emotions themed gross motor game makes the perfect solution for solving the indoor recess dilemma. Perfect for practicing acting out emotions during a feelings unit, or just as a fun game for students to play, this gross motor activity gets kids moving and keeps the boredom away. What is Included: A page that gives directions on how to play the game . A poem card that is chanted between each round. 15 emotion cards depicting different emotions for students to act out. How to Play: To begin, the teacher needs the students to stand around the room, making sure there is enough room for students to act out each emotion without bumping into other students. The teacher will chant the poem, and at the same time the students will pretend to be asleep. Once the poem is chanted the teacher (or a student) will choose a card and call out the emotion. Students will then begin to act out that emotion. Once the teacher chants the poem again, students will again pretend to sleep until a new emotion is chanted. The Initial/Beginning Sounds Matching Activity is a simple activity for those just starting to learn the initial/beginning sounds. This game provides 2 activities in one, either an activity for one player, or a game for two or three players. For use: In the classroom - centres, paired activities, intervention etc.. At home - by parents + home-educators Aim of the Initial/Beginning Sounds Matching Activity : ·That the child will be able to match the correct letter to the correct picture by initial (or beginning) sound ·That children will hear the initial (or beginning) sound of a word ·That children will know the sound that each letter /a/ to /z/ stands for To prepare the Initial/Beginning Sounds Matching Activity : Print the pages you require (colour or black and white). Cut along the lines to separate the letters from the pictures. To play the Initial/Beginning Sounds Matching Activity Play as an activity for one player: Scatter the cards face up on the left and the letters cards, face up on the right-hand side of the player. The player should select a picture card, say the word and listen for the initial sound. The player should then find the matching letter that stands for that sound. Completed pairs are placed in front of the player. For two or three players: Scatter the pictures and letters as before, but face down. Players take turns to select a picture, say the initial sound and then attempt to find the matching letter that stands for that sound. Wrong attempts should be returned to the pools of cards. The players place their completed pairs in front of them and compete to find the most pairs before the cards run out. Long I: Three Quiz Show Style Games Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game After the titles and information about the game, the first game will begin. Students will be shown a close-up photo of an object and have to guess what it is. Press the = button for the answer and the original photo with word will appear. Press the arrow button to move onto the next question. 6 questions in total. Second game is a memory game. Starting with three pictures and ending up with six, students have ten seconds to observe the pictures on the screen, then need to say the words they remember. The picture page will automatically move on after ten seconds but if you wish to move on yourself quicker then there is an arrow button. In the answer screen, answers will flash if correct, dim if incorrect. Finally game is more like a question and answer, but in two parts. In the part, there will be a clue and 3-6 words to choose from. Press the correct answer. In the second section you will get the reverse, one word and then two to three clues to choose from. Choose the correct clue for the word. Includes arrows to move onto the next page. About the Game These three quiz show games will give you the perfect opportunity to practice key long I vocabulary and practice the long I sound.
