Letter V Phonics and Writing Centers with Real Photographs

This letter V beginning sounds and handwriting activity includes real photographs to practice learning to recognize, write and identify the sound of the letter V. Each picture has bold colors and includes easily recognized pictures. Each activity can be used in a literacy center for students to practice letter recognition. What is Included: There is an instructional page with printing instructions. There are letter V posters with various letter V words. There are handwriting task cards that allow students to practice writing the letter V as well as words that begin with the letter V. There are beginning sound clip cards that allow students to practice clipping the images that begin with the letter V. There is a sorting activity where you sort pictures that begins with V from words that do not begin with V. The letter V sorting cards that can also be used to play memory, matching, or concentration games. These cards can also be used during a lesson in a pocket chart as well as for a center display. When to Use: All of the activities make great literacy centers, by placing each set of activities in the center and letting students complete activities alone or with a partner. These activities make great morning tub activities. Just place these activities in morning bins for students to complete as their classmates arrive to class. Skills Assessed: These activities assess letter recognition skills, beginning sounds, handwriting, and sorting skills. Each activity in this set is low prep. Each activity just needs to be printed out, cut apart, and laminated if desired. When you laminate the writing cards, you can create a writing center activity that is reusable is you add dry erase markers. The handwriting cards and beginning sound clip cards can be turned into task box activities.

This simple Prep resource gives the students the opportunity to be creative, to write, and to draw. The sentences are simple to read, fun to color, and challenging enough to practice comprehension. Students practice important skills such as left to right writing, starting sentences with a capital letter, using proper spaces between words, and ending with a period. The writing page has reminders at the bottom and encourages students to check their work. Students will practice writing sentences and drawing pictures. These are great worksheets for center time. Students will need watercolors or markers, and a pencil. Students will be asked to: 1. Look at the picture at the top of the page. 2. Read and trace the sentence with a marker of your choice. 3. Playing the Game After the titles and information about the game, the first game will begin. Students will be shown a close-up photo of an object and have to guess what it is. Press the = button for the answer and the original photo with word will appear. Press the arrow button to move onto the next question. 6 questions in total. Second game is a memory game. Starting with three pictures and ending up with six, students have ten seconds to observe the pictures on the screen, then need to say the words they remember. The picture page will automatically move on after ten seconds but if you wish to move on yourself quicker then there is an arrow button. In the answer screen, answers will flash if correct, dim if incorrect. Finally game is more like a question and answer, but in two parts. In the part, there will be a clue and 3-6 words to choose from. Press the correct answer. In the second section you will get the reverse, one word and then two to three clues to choose from. Choose the correct clue for the word. Includes arrows to move onto the next page. About the Game These three quiz show games will give you the perfect opportunity to practice key long I vocabulary and practice the long I sound. Need an activity for practicing number bonds that will be fun and engaging? These no-prep, self checking cut and paste math puzzles are great for helping students to focus on addition as they do number bonds for number 29. Preparation: Just print and go! There are 2 pages for each number – The main worksheet and a page with puzzle pieces that need to be cut out and pasted on the worksheet. Each student will need a copy of both pages. There is also a “Back of Puzzle Pieces” page. This needs to be printed on the reverse side of all puzzle pieces pages. There are 2 printing options – colour or black and white You can also mix and match the colour and black and white pages. For example, you could print only the puzzle pieces in colour and the worksheet in black and white if you wish.
