This letter L emergent reader is a great book for practicing beginning sounds. This book is a low prep activity for students to make and take home to practice the initial sound of the letter L. These beginning readers are perfect for any preschool or kindergarten classroom where students are learning about letters and letter sounds. Students can be guided to color each picture first and then cut the pages apart. There are two emergent reader pages for each printed page. The pages will then be stapled together in a book for students to read over and over to practice the letter L sound. All pictures in this book focus on the initial /l/ sound. This emergent reader includes a cover page and seven different "L is for..." pages that all focus on the most common sound of the letter L in the initial position of the word. Being able to tailor instruction to their learning styles is just one effective way to increase student engagement and set students up for success. Many of our students, from year to year, are visual and auditory learners. Most children (and even adults) can attest to their ability to better retain information that they have learned through music and song. Because of this, my resources seek to teach students skills through song. This particular resource is a Verbs Song Packet. This can be used in your Language Arts classroom with your 1st and 2nd grade students. Your 3rd grade students would also benefit if they needed additional support with this skill.
