Force and Motion Science Experiment

We all know that science is learned best with our hands! When we have the opportunity to really explore scientific concepts with an interactive approach, the learning just sticks! More than that, students love the chance to do experiments . This is a Force and Motion Science Experiment for your students to take part in. It may be used best with 3rd – 5th grade students. Students will work with a set of balls to apply what they know about force and motion. Students will complete the 2 page printable along the way. They will begin by making a hypothesis, as scientists do, before engaging in the experiment. Students will hypothesize which ball they believe will need the most wind-force for motion and which ball will need the least wind-force. You may choose to have your students decide on this hypothesis individually or in small groups. When students have wrapped up their hypothesis, they will move forward into the experiment portion. Students will follow the directions on page 1 to test out the force and motion of each ball. There is space for them to test out 6 balls. Your class may love completing this in small groups or with a partner. On page 2, they will reflect on the experiment by writing their particular outcome and formulating a conclusion about the wind-force needed to put balls in motion. I hope you enjoy! Alphabet Interactive Notebook

These interactive notebook pages for the alphabet work great inside a composition notebook or a spiral notebook. Students will be able to work with letter sounds and identification as well as handwriting practice. What is included for each letter? Each letter has a 1 page template for creating two notebooking pages. I know the letter [letter name] header for page 1. Capital and lowercase letter identification cards. I can find things that start with the letter [letter name] header for page 2 where students will look through magazines or other printed material to find pictures of things that begin with the letter. I can find the letter tab where students look through magazines or other printed material to find examples of the letter. Letter stickers or stamps can also be used in this section. I can write tab where students will practice writing the letter. At the end of the product are writing lines included if you want to write on primary lines. How to Use: To use these notebook pages, students will cut along the dotted lines to separate the different features. The students will glue the "I know the letter" section to the top of the left hand page and will glue the "I can fine things that start with" the letter on the right hand page. The capital letter and lowercase letter cards should go directly under the "I know the letter" header. The "I can find" and "I can write" flaps should go under the capital and lowercase letter cards, making sure to only put glue on the backside where the solid line is located. Students will look through magazines or other printed material to find examples of the letter in print as well as pictures that begin with the letter to glue in the appropriate locations. Skills Assessed: These alphabet interactive notebooks will allow students to practice letter recognition, letter formation and beginning sounds.

In this SEL coloring page resource, you will receive 3 different Kelso's Choices extension activities. Plus one additional maze in the color green. There is a black and white frog maze, a color by Kelso's Choice frog to color in based on some of the Kelso's choices, and a draw a line from the picture of Kelso the frog doing the Kelso Choice on the right, written out. Kelso's Choices is a great conflict resolution framework that explains 9 different ways to solve small problems; walk away, talk it out, apologize, ignore, go to another game, wait and cool off, tell them to stop, share and take turns, and make a deal. These choices can teach students how to solve small problems by themselves, thus reducing the need for tattling. You can use these activities after teaching an SEL class on Kelso's choices, big and small problems, and which adult to tell if they are having a big problem. I teach students that if a situation is scary or unsafe, or someone is about to get hurt, they need to tell an adult and it becomes a big problem I also tell students that if they are having a small problem that simply will not go away using a Kelso's choice, they do need to go to an adult for guidance, such as a teacher, parent, babysitter, etc. Otherwise, if someone if cutting them in line, teasing them, taking a marker, not letting them play, not playing by the rules, or doing something to them that is frustrating or annoying, they can empower themselves to use a Kelso's Choice. Many of our students love learning in a variety of ways and music is one of those! We can retain information better when we hear it through songs and visual videos. This is one reason we like to incorporate music in our learning environments. We don’t have to limit music to music class only for our students. In my store, you’ll find a wide array of music resources that students will love to learn from. This is a music video for your math students in 4th – 6th grade. The title of this song is “Line Them Up, Chuck.”This is a song and video that will have students learn about adding and subtracting with decimals. This video provides explanations and many examples to support student learning. You can implement this video at the introduction of teaching this math skill. The objective is for students to correctly line up decimals in order to solve addition and subtraction problems. This would be a song that I play multiple times for my students across the course of this unit . It is an MP4 file, so you can download it and have the option of embedding it into any slideshow you may be using for instruction. I hope you enjoy!
