Here's a no-prep math geometry game that will get your students excited to measure the perimeter of compound shapes (also called complex shapes or composite shapes). It's a simple dice game that actually uses a fair bit of strategy- so your students can start to figure out ways to win as they play more than once. They will be calculating the perimeter of a variety of compound complex or composite shapes. Students can also learn more by calculating the area of the shapes they create throughout the game! A sample round of the game is included to teach it easily to your students! How to Use: 1) Player One picks a starting spot. They roll and draw a line the length of their roll. 2) Player Two begins their turn at the end of Player One’s line. They roll and draw a line the length of their roll. 3) Once the perimeter of the shape is over forty units, the first player to complete the shape wins the game! 4) If you can not close the shape with the rolls given, it will be a tie. 5) BONUS: Both players can calculate the area of the complex compound or composite shape. Bingo Game - Add and Subtact Fractions Including Mixed Numbers

Two Bingo Games for your students to have fun practicing adding and subtracting fractions including mixed numbers. Instructions include: Have students to make a 4 x 4 game board. They will fill in the answers in random order. This way everyone has a different board but all of the answers. Put up the first 2 questions. When all students finish #1, you can change to the second page, which still has #2 but also #3 for those that have also finished #2. This allows some students to work ahead when ready. When everyone has finished #2, move to the next screen, which has #3 and #4 as some students will be ready for #4. Continue in this way. Students can use a highlighter to mark their answers. Use a different color for each game. (Don’t have them completely mark out their answers with pen or pencil in the first game because they will use this same board in the second game.) Students MUST show their work on paper to get credit for a BINGO. For the problems that don’t have work to show, they must explain their answer on paper. The first game uses questions #1-8. In a regular size class there should be 5-6 bingos after this many questions. You can start the second game #9-16 or save that for another class time. Just make sure students save their board because both games use the same board. This skill corresponds to the 5th Grade Math Common Core Standard: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.NF.A.1 Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators. For example, 2/3 + 5/4 = 8/12 + 15/12 = 23/12. (In general, a/b + c/d = (ad + bc)/bd.) This 20 slide PowerPoint contains two bingo games of 8 questions each. Students will randomly fill in their own bingo boards with the given answers. All students will have every answer but in a different order on their bingo card. This way if a student works a problem and the answer is not on their card they know they have made an error. They will use the same card for both games so they must mark answers differently for each game. Detailed instructions are given in the file. The answer key is on the final slide of the PowerPoint. I usually give candy for bingos. Bingo has always been one of the best ways I have found for student engagement.

Next, invite the children to guess what activity is coming up. - Now tell your students that today they will reinforce the topic of multiplication in a playful and educational way. - Ask them to take out their pencils or markers. - Now hand out the worksheets and let the students or your children start solving. - If you want to make this activity more exciting, you can tell them that you will set a timer. 4.Grades or ages This game is designed for children from 7 to 10 years old, especially for children who have already learned multiplication and want to reinforce it. How to apply It is suggested that the teacher or parent, print 1 game for each student, because these activities will be done quickly and in a playful and fun way. Print these activities on an A4 sheet, in color and make sure you have color ink, since it requires a lot of color. Then staple the sheets together and hand them out to your students or children.
