World Cup 2026 Canada Pennant Banner This Canada pennant banner was createdƒ for the World Cup period. Students often notice international events, so adding a small decoration felt like a simple way to reflect that. The banner can be printed in color, but I sometimes use the black-and-white pages first so my students can color a few pennants before assembling them. After cutting, the pieces can be connected with string or ribbon. I hung the finished banner along a shelf, although it also works above the board or on a classroom door. The layout is straightforward and doesn’t feel too busy, which helps when it stays up for several days. Depending on time, the activity can be skipped and the colored version used directly. Both options are easy to prepare. The file is provided as a printable PDF. Laminating is optional if you plan to reuse the banner later. Recycling Workshop Home-School Connection

Have you been learning about the 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle? Now that your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grade students know what it means to recycle, it's time to put that concept into action. Students will find an object at home that would otherwise be trash and recycle it into something wonderful! Once they've completed their projects at home, they will bring them to school and get going on the second part of the workshop, which is a how-to writing outlining the steps they took to recycle their objects. Students will introduce their projects, discuss transition words, draw pictures of each step, and write a final draft. As a conclusion to the workshop, students will show their completed objects to the class and share their completed how-to writings with their classmates. The ultimate objectives are to put recycling into action, write a clear how-to essay so others can do the same at home, and share those essays with others. It's been a crowd favorite for three years running! In this product you will find a letter to send home to parents and students outlining the at-home expectations for the project, an outline for a rough draft of the how-to writing with a section dedicated to possible transition words for each step of their project, and a page for students to write a final draft. There's even a spot for pictures of the students with their projects! Finally, a rubric for assessment has been included and covers both the written and oral parts of the workshop. Making Policy: No Vehicles in the Park!

Something you probably know that your students might not? Making rules is a lot harder than it looks! This take on a classic activity is a great ice breaker for a conversation on policy, and is a lasting and memorable activity that can be referenced back to as the year goes on. Essentially, the city wants to pass a new law prohibiting vehicles in the park. Like often in policy, this simple rule gets far more complex when nuance is introduced. Students first learn about policy and law, and are then tasked with creating policy and law of their own. After they have created a no vehicles in the park policy, their policy is put to the test as exception after exception is put forth. What counts as a vehicle? What about non-motorized vehicles? Bikes? Ambulances? The list goes on! Students have the opportunity to dive into the complex world of policy creation as their policy is picked apart by exceptions. Sal’s Snips: A Case Study Exploring Mergers, Competition, and Expansion In front of Sal Saldano sits a huge decision-- whether or not to expand his business to the lucrative downtown of Genericburg. And if so, how? In this case study students will follow the story of an invented small business owner-- Sal Saldano-- as he hires students to consult him on his expansion efforts. Your students will be charged with pouring over the information provided, and then constructing a consultant's presentation for Sal on how he should proceed. In the meantime, students will learn about minimizing risks, best/worst/most-likely outcomes, expansion, and competition. In short, this activity is designed to get them out of the textbook and into real business scenarios! Included Materials: Instructor's Guide: A helpful guide for you, the teacher, as you look to make this project a successful one!
