Collaborative Poster SEL Community Building

In this collaborative poster, the class will come together to create a poster that stands for what each student believes in. The poster has a rainbow with balloons and stars and the quote that is spelled out is "In our class, we are kind and respectful." Each student will get to color a piece of this puzzle. There are 30 pieces. The poster will measure 23 inches height by 35 inches wide. This will be a fun activity for each student to contribute into one large poster. This poster can be posted in the classroom, on the bulletin board on on the door. This poster is great for first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grades. In this file, you will receive 30 student pages with directions on each page, a full color picture of the outcome, a picture of the black and white version as well as the black and white version that is divided into 30 pieces. In the beginning of the school year, it is important to do activities that build community and shared values. When doing this poster, students can also talk about what else they believe to be important in the classroom as a community. I work as a school counselor for K-8th grade. Contractions Posters – Anchor Charts for Class

Introduce or review many different contractions with these contractions posters and anchor charts. Contractions are created when two words are made into one word. The missing letters are replaced with an apostrophe. Since most contractions follow the same pattern of letter elimination, these posters help to show students the similarity of contractions and how to appropriate spell the contractions. What is Included: There is one poster that focuses on words that use "not" in the contraction. There is one poster that focuses on words that use "will" in the contraction. There is one poster that focuses on words that use "would" in the contraction. There is one poster that focuses on words that use "is" or "are" in the contraction. Stop, Think, Choose – Self-Control SEL Game

In this resource, you will get a fun SEL game for students. This STOP THINK CHOOSE game is to help students practice slowing down when they are upset and thinking through their feelings and choices. There is a stop sign handout that all students receive and can take home. This can also be used as an SEL poster in the classroom to reference this strategy of Stopping (calming down and stopping what you are doing), Thinking (How do I and other feel right now?) and Choosing a safe and respectful choice. When students play the game, they will land on ice cream truck, car and stop spaces. The ice cream truck is for fun. The students will read the joke or "would you rather" question to the group and they will guess the answer or share their preferred choice of a "would you rather" question. The car spaces are for scenarios where students can walk it through the stop, think, and choose strategy. The stop sign spaces for for students to act out a motion, saying, or movement around the room activity and the person on their right will tell them to stop. Students will practice stopping right away. This is great practice for when teachers ask students to stop and they need to learn to stop right away in the moment. Lastly there is an extension handout for students to fill out that assesses if they understand the strategy. There are 24 car scenario cards and 24 ice cream truck cards for fun. There is an action needed for each space of the game. The game board is 8.5 by 11 inches but if you would like to enlarge the game board, this is possible using a copy machine and zooming to a larger size if needed. You just need game pieces and dice or an 8 sided die.
