Place Value Expanded Form Standard Form & Expanded Notation Activity

Place Value Expanded Form Standard Form & Expanded Notation Activity
Math, Numbers, Early Math, Place Value, Homeschool Curriculum, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Centers, Activities, Games, Task Cards, Worksheets & Printables

Looking for a place value activity that gives students meaningful practice with expanded form, standard form, and expanded notation? These Place Value Task Cards include 32 varied questions that move beyond simple recall and encourage students to think carefully about how numbers are composed and represented. Students work between different forms, identify errors, reason about digit values, and explore flexible ways to decompose numbers. Student reference cards and teacher guides are included for extra support when needed. What’s Included 32 place value task cards Student recording sheet + complete answer key 3 Student Reference Cards 3 Teacher Quick Guide Cards 10-page Teacher Guide PDF Practice with several forms of place value representation Why This Works Students can often memorize the steps for writing a number in expanded form without really understanding why it works. I've found that mixing question types makes their understanding much easier to see. One card might ask students to move from expanded to standard form, while another requires them to interpret place value units, find an error, or think of another way to decompose a number. That variety encourages students to look at the structure of the number rather than rely on one repeated procedure. Ideal For Place value lessons and review Math centers and stations Grades 3–5 Small-group instruction Partner work Independent practice Early finishers Assessment and test preparation How You Can Use It Use all 32 cards for a whole-class game of Scoot, or choose only the cards that match the skill you're currently teaching. For math centers, place the cards at a station with the student recording sheet. Students can also work through them independently or discuss their reasoning with a partner. The reference cards provide additional support without needing to stop the activity, while the teacher guides include explanations, examples, common misconceptions, and assessment ideas. Skills Supported Expanded form Standard form Expanded notation Word form Place and value of digits Zero as a placeholder Flexible decomposition Error analysis Place value reasoning Mathematical explanation A flexible set for practicing place value in different ways while helping students build a stronger understanding of how numbers are composed.

Phonemic Awareness Activity

Phonemic Awareness Activity
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Grade 2, 3, Activities, Centers, Read Alouds, Teacher Tools

This phonemic awareness activity includes 25 pages with 12 phonemic awareness activities on each page. I use these lists (one page per week, all year) as an all-class activity. Each page explicitly tells you, the teacher, what to say to the class, and what you should hear back from the whole class at the same time, if they are responding correctly. Practice skills included are: initial, medial, and final sounds, blending, and segmenting. If someone makes a mistake you can easily hear it and go over/explain the item to the class. I like to say my part, then snap two times for students to have think time. Then I place my hand palm up, as if to say GO AHEAD, in order to keep them in unison in their responses. Here is an example of one page- 1. First sound: I say- say, sit, sun They say- /s/ 2. First sound segmentation: I say- seed They say first sound, then the rest: /s/+eed 3. Final sound- I say- mat, bit, late They say: /t/ 4. Final sound segmentation: I say- pat They say the word, with last sound separate: /pa/+/t/ 5. Segmenting 3 sounds: I say- pig They say /p/ /i/ /g/ 6. Blending initial clusters: I say- /s/ top They say: stop 7. Segmenting 4 sounds. I say- flick They say: /f/ /l/ /i/ /k/ 8. Delete part of initial blend: I say- spin without the S They say: pin 9. Blend final clusters: I say- pass + /t/ They say: past 10. Delete part of final blend: I say- field without the D They say: feel 11. Delete second sound in initial blend: I say- skip without the k They say: sip 12. Delete second to last sound in final blend: I say- best without the S They say: bet Have FUN with phonemic awareness!

Are your students tired? Do they struggle with morning fatigue, yet stay glued to their screens late into the night? It's the paradox of modern adolescence. This comprehensive, project-based learning (PBL) module transforms their struggle into a powerful scientific investigation. Turn Students into Scientists with This Hands-On Health Project! Instead of just telling students that "screens are bad for sleep," this resource empowers them to prove it to themselves. "The Screen Time & Sleep Experiment" is a rigorous, 4-week unit that guides students through an N-of-1 trial—a personal experiment where they are both the researcher and the subject! Students will learn the deep neurobiology behind sleep (melatonin, suprachiasmatic nucleus, ipRGCs) and then apply it by tracking their own data. They will use detailed logs to correlate evening screen time with critical metrics like Sleep Onset Latency (SOL) and Morning Energy Levels . This isn't just a worksheet; it's a journey of self-discovery that builds critical life skills. What's Included in This 36-Page Turnkey Resource? Part 1: The Empirical Approach to Sleep Hygiene (11 Pages): A detailed, student-facing guide explaining the science of circadian rhythms, melatonin suppression, photic vs. cognitive arousal, and intervention strategies. Part 2: Student Workbook (16 Pages): Features 10 detailed worksheets that guide students through every phase of their experiment—from establishing a baseline to tracking interventions (software filters, blue-light glasses), analyzing data, and creating a sustainable personal sleep protocol. Part 3: Visuals & Teacher Resources (9 Pages): Everything you need to facilitate the project with confidence. This section includes: High-resolution conceptual diagrams (flowcharts, scatter plots). A comprehensive, fill-in-the-blank Answer Key. A detailed Teacher Implementation Guide with a 4-week pacing plan, advice on navigating subjective data, and strategies for ensuring student privacy. Why This Project is a Game-Changer for Your Classroom: Relevant & Engaging: Tackles a real-world issue that directly impacts every student's daily life, health, and academic performance. Promotes Scientific Literacy: Students practice the scientific method, collect and analyze quantitative data, identify confounding variables, and distinguish correlation from causation. Cross-Curricular: Perfect for Health, Biology, AP Psychology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, and even Statistics classes. Builds Digital Citizenship & SEL: Encourages self-regulation, mindfulness about technology use, and empowers students to take control of their own well-being. Give your students the "aha!" moment they need to understand the invisible mechanics of their own biology. Equip them with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital age in a healthy, productive way. Download this print-and-go resource today! Keywords: Sleep Hygiene, Screen Time, Blue Light, Circadian Rhythm, Health, High School, Biology, AP Psychology, Project-Based Learning (PBL), Data Tracking, Scientific Method, Melatonin, Digital Citizenship, Health and Wellness, Student Experiment, Lab Report. Why Parents/Schools Love It: Turns a Problem into a Project: It addresses the universal struggle over teen screen time not with lectures, but with an empowering, student-led scientific investigation. Fosters Self-Responsibility: By using their own data, students see the direct consequences of their habits, leading to intrinsic motivation for change that is far more effective than parental nagging. Teaches Critical 21st-Century Skills: This goes beyond biology; it teaches data literacy, critical thinking, self-regulation, and how to create a healthy work-life-tech balance. It’s a Complete, Turnkey Solution: The resource is a comprehensive package with a student guide, workbook, and a full teacher implementation guide, making it easy for any educator to run a high-quality, impactful project. Classroom Management Chart - Student Agreements

Classroom Management Chart - Student Agreements
Resources for Teachers, Classroom Management, Community Building, Not Grade Specific, Teacher Tools, Diagrams

This mini poster outlines 6 important classroom agreements for smooth classroom management. I always start the year by asking kids what behaviors would make for a nice classroom environment, where everyone can learn, and feel seen, heard, and respected, and also BE respectFUL. Usually, kids will come up with these six ideas, or similar iterations, on their own, so it's generally a generic list of reasonable agreements/rules. The six agreements are: I will do my job, I will treat materials with care, I will be where I belong, I will practice self-control, I will follow directions, and I will being considerate of others. I usually just ask questions, such as- Name, what is your job right now? or Name, are you treating that eraser with care? Or Name, I remember that one of our agreements is following directions. Do you remember what the directions were? Use this chart for easy classroom management!

Classroom Rules Poster - What to do when someone else is talking

Classroom Rules Poster - What to do when someone else is talking
Resources for Teachers, Classroom Management, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Teacher Tools, Diagrams, Charts

This half-sheet classroom rules poster is simple, yet effective. It reminds students of important protocol; what to do when someone else is talking. That does NOT just mean the teacher, but when any one person is speaking to the group/class, everyone else should be doing these three things: 1. Looking at the person who is speaking (for this, there is an image of an eye -my eye!). 2. Be silent (for this, there is an image of a mouth crossed out -my mouth!). 3. Keep your hands down (for this, there is an image of a hand with an arrow pointing down -yup, my hand!). This last one is the most underrated- it irks me so much when kids raise their hands when someone else is sharing, like all they're thinking about is what THEY want to say, so they're likely not truly listening to the speaker. My favorite thing about this poster is that, after it is explained, I simply have to point to it and make eye contact with the person who is forgetting the rules on the sign!

Chemistry Project- Adding with Electrons

Chemistry Project- Adding with Electrons
Science, Chemistry, Math, Addition and Subtraction, Early Math, Basic Operations, Grade 1, 2, 3, Worksheets & Printables, Word Problems

This five-page PDF document includes a sample page, two worksheets for students, and an a swear key. In each of the 12 chemistry word problems about electrons, students are given the number of electrons in one shell of each atom (either the inner shell or the outer shell. They then have to figure out how many electrons are in the remaining shell. Here is an example: A lithium atom has 3 total electrons. There is 1 electron in the outer shell. How many electrons are in the inner shell? Draw the electrons on the atom’s shells. Write the unknown addend in the equation. So the math itself is simple; it is just finding unknown addends, but the connection to chemistry is COOL, and students draw the electrons on atoms of different elements. I love making cross-curricular connections, and kids enjoy them too, hence my interest in making chemistry into a math worksheet.

50 States Word Search

50 States Word Search
Social Studies, Geography, History, History: USA, Grade 3, 4, 5, 6, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets, Word Searches

This product is a set of four word searches for the 50 United States of America. There is one word search for each region of the country. A single word search with all 50 states is NOT included. The 50 states are broken up into geographic regions, according to the US census, hence four different words searches (for the Northeast, Midwest, South, and West). I have included an answer key for teachers. PLEASE NOTE: some of the words are BACKWARDS , going from right to left, or bottom to top. In these cases, I have indicated so with a directional arrow on the answer key. All the other words go vertically from top to bottom, or horizontally from left to right. There are NO diagonal words. This set of word searches is appropriate for later elementary school grades, or beginning middle school grades. They offer a fun activity for kids, and an easy one for teachers? As an extension, students could color each state in on a map as they find it on the word search.

It can also be used as a locate-and-color activity. It is a one-page PDF document, ready to print. It can be used in grades K-8 for American history or geography. This map includes all 50 states. Each state is written in all capital letters. It is very helpful to have many of these on hand, laminated for durability. They can be used all year long and for years to come if they are laminated. Emoji Template

Emoji Template
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Not Grade Specific, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

This resource can be used as a Daily Emoji Expression Activity, or weekly, or just occasionally. I like to use them once a month, so it stays fun and kids look forward to it. This is great for virtual or in-person learning. You can print and laminate these emoji then cut them out. On a daily basis, students can choose an emoji to reflect and express their emotions. You may choose to have students write their name on their emoji for the day or place it in a pocket chart. This is a great tool for learning about emotions. Kids enjoy sharing why they chose each emoji; how it represents their feelings, interests, or personality. They are large and colorful, and reminiscent to those of use (like myself) who taught online during Covid and allowed kids to include emoji with their name on Zoom :) This is a PDF with 13 pages, ready to print.

Money Activities

Money Activities
Math, Measurements, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

This resource is a Coin Value Work Mat. Students will work with all four of the what I call the "most common coins" - pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. On the work mat, students will: - Match each coin to the actual-size photo - Show the value of each coin with pennies - Show a new way to make 10 cents without using pennies - Show a new way to make 25 cents without using pennies The coins are printed in color and the sheets work well when laminated for durability and reuse. This activity is simple, yet very hands on, so students stay engaged and get experience with real coins instead of just working with pictures of coins in a workbook. They have fun stacking the coins and. comparing the sizes of each coin. They can use different coins to find the same value. This is a single page PDF, ready to print.

Angles Worksheet

Angles Worksheet
Math, Geometry, Grade 2, 3, Worksheets & Printables

This three-page worksheet about angles is appropriate for grades 2 and 3. Students will identify right, acute, and obtuse angles, then they will draw right, acute, and obtuse angles. There are three levels for the product. In Level 1, students will find missing angles within a right angle and write an equation with the missing angle (for example 50 degrees + 40 degrees = 90 degrees). In Level 2, students will find missing angles within a straight line (180 degrees) and write an equation with the missing angle (for example 120 degrees + 60 degrees = 180 degrees). In Level 3, students will find missing angles within a circle and write an equation with the missing angle (for example 240 degrees + 120 degrees = 360 degrees). Students can use this worksheet as either guided practice with the teacher helping (all-class or small group), or as independent practice after the teacher has provided time for guided practice.
