Chapter Book Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Chapter Book Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Chapter Book Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this chapter book vocabulary puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our reading unit. The kids were moving from picture books to chapter books but had no idea what words like chapter, series, or sequel meant when we talked about longer books. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like chapter, title, series, sequel, paragraph, page, bookmark, glossary, and index. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the chapter book vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a sequel is always better than the first book. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple book, bookmark, and magnifying glass drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write the title of a chapter book they want to read on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vitamin functions finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. Memorial Day Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Memorial Day Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Memorial Day Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Memorial Day vocabulary puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our May unit. The kids loved the long weekend but had no idea what words like memorial, honor, or sacrifice meant when we talked about why we observe this holiday. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Memorial Day, remember, honor, sacrifice, hero, soldier, military, service, freedom, courage, flag, grave, wreath, parade, and May. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the Memorial Day vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple flag, wreath, and star drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one way to honor fallen soldiers on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Atoms and Molecules word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Atoms and Molecules word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this atoms and molecules puzzle set for my 4th graders during our chemistry unit. The kids had heard the words but thought atoms were like tiny dots and had no idea how they stick together to make molecules. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like atom, molecule, proton, neutron, electron, nucleus, element, compound, bond, water, oxygen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and periodic table. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally make sense. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether water is an atom or a molecule. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple circle and stick drawings showing atoms bonding but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a simple atom with protons, neutrons, and electrons on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
