Mixed Numbers Recipe Doubling – Real-World Math
Scale a butter-tart filling recipe from one dozen to two dozen, then to five dozen tarts. Students show a strategy in the workspace and record the new amounts in the tables. Encourage diagrams, repeated addition or multiplication, and compare approaches before using the worked pages to check. The second task asks students to explain which ingredient was easiest and most challenging to scale. Extend the lesson by having students bring another recipe to double.
