Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Classic Literature Introduction Terms word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this classic literature introduction terms puzzle set for my 4th and 5th graders during our classic literature unit. The kids could read the words but had no idea what words like classic, legacy, or timeless meant when we talked about stories that have lasted a long time. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like classic, timeless, legacy, author, theme, message, tradition, and hero. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the classic literature vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a book has to be old to be a classic. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple open book, quill, and star drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one classic book they have read or want to read on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Grade 8 Genetics and Evolution word search, scramble and crossword puz
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Grade 8 Genetics and Evolution word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this genetics and evolution puzzle set for my 8th graders during our life science unit. The kids had a basic grasp of traits from earlier grades, but they kept mixing up the difference between genotype and phenotype, and they had no idea what words like allele, homozygous, or heterozygous meant when we started Punnett squares and heredity. They also always asked if evolution was "just a theory," so I wanted vocabulary that would help them understand the mechanisms behind it. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using vocabulary from the core of the unit: genetics, heredity, DNA, gene, allele, chromosome, genotype, phenotype, dominant, recessive, homozygous, heterozygous, Punnett square, mutation, variation, evolution, natural selection, adaptation, fossil, and extinction. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or as a quick warm-up to get the terms in their heads before we dive into a Punnett square activity. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "heterozygous" (it's a tricky one) or whether a genotype and phenotype are the same thing (they're not—they always have opinions about it). The crossword I use for partners or as a review before a quiz, and I usually have a Punnett square example and a simple diagram of a chromosome on the board for the kids who need the visual support to connect the words to the concepts. Works for 8th through 9th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers use a Punnett square to show a cross between two parents with different traits on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

The kids could find their house on a picture but didn't know how to use a compass rose or read a map key. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like map, compass rose, legend, key, scale, symbol, north, south, east, west, globe, continent, ocean, grid, and route. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the basic skills stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about which direction is which without a compass. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple compass and map marker drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 4th grade. Print and go. Producers and Consumers word search, scramble and crossword ⭐I made this producers and consumers puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our economics and ecosystems crossover unit. The kids kept confusing who makes things and who buys or eats them. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like producer, consumer, factory, farmer, baker, shopper, goods, services, and sell. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help separate the two terms in their heads. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search is good for quiet time after lunch. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over whether "baker" is really a producer (yes, they make bread). The crossword I save for partners. I added a couple simple store and farm drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I ask early finishers to name one more producer or consumer on the back. Grade 3 I made this author's purpose puzzle set for my 3rd graders during our reading comprehension unit. The kids could read a book but had no idea why the author wrote it or how to tell the difference between persuade, inform, and entertain. They also kept mixing up inform and entertain when we looked at different texts. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like persuade, inform, entertain, explain, describe, purpose, author, reader, opinion, fact, story, and article . I also threw in a few like "convince" and "teach" because they kept coming up in our class discussions . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help PIE (persuade, inform, entertain) finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "persuade" or whether a textbook is meant to inform or persuade (it's inform—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a PIE chart on the wall for the kids who need the visual support to remember the three types . I added a couple simple book, newspaper, and ad drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sign Language Basic ASL Signs word search, scramble and crossword puzz
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Sign Language Basic ASL Signs word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this basic ASL signs puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our language and culture unit. The kids were curious about sign language but had no idea how to communicate simple things like "hello," "thank you," or "help" without using their voices. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using everyday signs like hello, goodbye, thank you, please, yes, no, help, stop, water, bathroom, and friend . I also included school-related signs like teacher, student, book, and learn because we use them all day long . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the basic ASL vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether the sign for "please" is the same as the sign for "thank you." The crossword I use for partners or as a review after a signing practice session. I added a couple simple hand shape illustrations to show palm orientation but nothing too busy . Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers practice signing one of the words to a partner on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Math in Real Life word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Math in Real Life word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this "Math in Real Life" puzzle set for my 4th graders during our end-of-year review. The kids could solve equations on paper, but they had no idea what words like budget , interest , or convert meant when we talked about how math actually shows up in everyday life—from cooking to shopping to building things. They also kept asking when they'd ever use this stuff, so I wanted vocabulary that would connect the dots . So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like budget , recipe , distance , volume , area , speed , rate , interest , taxes , sales , income , wages , discount , profit , measure , convert , scale , chart , map , and estimate . Nothing fancy—just puzzles to help them see that math isn't just a school subject. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether profit and income are the same thing (they're not—profit is what's left after costs, and the kids always have opinions about it). The crossword I use for partners, and I usually have a simple recipe, a map, and a receipt nearby for the kids who need to see the words in context. Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one math-in-real-life word and write a sentence about how they might use it as an adult on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
