My Favorites A to Z: A First Week of School Resource "My Favorites A to Z" is a teaching resource designed to enhance the first week of school experience for both teachers and students.
The first-person story gives beginning readers concrete details to retrieve: what the student wore, whom they met and what they did at school. Five questions also ask readers to recognize the narrator’s positive reaction. Use the completed response page after students have located supporting details in the passage.
The open writing template lets students choose what to share about themselves rather than work through a fixed list of questions. Add a title and byline, then use the photo square to personalize the page. The teacher directions suggest collecting the pieces into a class book, using the printable pages.
The pledge page presents thirteen first-person statements about classroom conduct and belonging, including effort, kindness and honesty. Students read the prewritten commitments, then can sign the page and add a thumbprint in the designated box.
