Crossword Puzzle: In the Park

Crossword Puzzle: In the Park
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Seasons, Spring, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, Crosswords Puzzles, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

This crossword puzzle is for students that are learning spelling, or already master spelling but want something colorful before holidays or students who are studying English as their second language. In this crossword, there are images as hints and the students have to name the images to the horizontal rows of the crossword. The lines are connected so when the crossword is filled correctly, a hidden message will appear in the emphasized vertical row. The hidden message will be: Holiday in Spring. The benefit of this kind of crossword is that once students understand the simple concept, they should be able to proceed themselves regardless of their level. The answer crossword is on the second page, but students are able to tell themselves whether they are right or not. If the hidden sentence is meaningful they are most likely to have done it right. If it doesn’t make sense, they will realize that and for example co-operate with their classmates to find the right solution. In other words, this worksheet is self-checking. This is a print-and-go and ready-to-use resource which can also be added to centers , or provided for substitute teachers. There are 15 words in this crossword. Some of them are very basic, such as ball, duck or tree. Some others may be a bit more difficult, like tricycle, squirrel or picnic. This way also English as second language students will get started and part of their crossword filled. If some of the words are challenging for the students, this can be also done as a group work.

Robotics Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Robotics Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this robotics vocabulary puzzle set for my 4th graders during our technology unit. The kids loved robots but had no idea what words like robot, sensor, or motor meant when we talked about how robots work. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like robot, sensor, motor, wheel, arm, program, command, battery, gear, and build. Nothing fancy β€” just puzzles to help the robotics vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a robot needs a brain to work. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple robot, gear, and battery drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one thing a robot can do on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Speed Velocity Acceleration word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this speed, velocity, and acceleration puzzle set for my 4th graders during our physical science unit. The kids knew fast and slow but had no idea that velocity includes direction or that acceleration isn't just speeding up. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like speed, velocity, acceleration, direction, fast, slow, change, constant, increase, decrease, meters per second, distance, time, slowing down, and turning. Nothing fancy β€” just puzzles to help the differences finally click. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a car turning a corner is accelerating even if speed stays the same. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple car and arrow drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one sentence explaining how velocity is different from speed on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
