Animal Adaptations word search, scramble and crossword ⭐I made this animal adaptations puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our life science unit. The kids could name cool adaptations like camouflage and migration but struggled to remember the vocabulary on tests. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like camouflage, migration, hibernation, beak, claw, webbed feet, blubber, and shelter. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to reinforce the terms. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search is great for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over how to spell "hibernation" or mix up "camouflage." The crossword I save for partners. I added a couple simple paw and feather drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I ask early finishers to pick one adaptation and explain how it helps an animal survive on the back. The kids actually like these.

Fairy Tale Character Types word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this fairy tale character types puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our reading unit. The kids loved Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk but had no idea what words like hero, villain, or magical helper meant when we talked about the characters in fairy tales. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like hero, villain, princess, prince, king, queen, magical helper, witch, fairy, and evil. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the fairy tale character vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether the wolf is a villain or just hungry. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple crown, wand, and wolf drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a fairy tale character description using three words from the puzzle on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Plastic-Free Living Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this plastic-free living vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our environmental unit. The kids had heard of plastic but had no idea what words like reuse, avoid, or biodegradable meant when we started talking about how to reduce plastic use. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like plastic, reuse, recycle, reduce, avoid, biodegradable, compost, bottle, bag, straw, and container . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess, and the scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "biodegradable" (it's a tricky one) or whether a compostable item is the same as a recyclable one (they're not—they always have opinions about it). The crossword I use for partners, and I usually have a few examples of reusable items nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the vocabulary in action. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one thing they can do to use less plastic on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Kindergarten Numbers 1–10 word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this numbers 1–10 puzzle set for my Kindergarteners during our beginning of the year math unit. The kids could count objects but kept mixing up the number words and symbols. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten. I also threw in the digits themselves (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) and a few early counting sentences to reinforce the connection between the symbol and the word . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the number vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "eight" or whether "seven" is bigger than "six" (they always have opinions about it). The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a set of number cards nearby for the kids who need visual support . I added a couple simple star, apple, and block drawings but nothing too busy. Works for Pre-K through 1st grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a picture of five of something on the back and write the number word. The kids actually ask for these now.
