World Geography: Oceania word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
World Geography: Oceania word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Oceania puzzle set for my 4th graders during our world geography unit. The kids could name Australia and New Zealand but had no idea about islands like Fiji, Papua New Guinea, or Samoa. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga, Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Palau, Nauru, Tuvalu, Kiribati, and Pacific. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the island names finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether Australia is a country or a continent. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple continent outline and kangaroo drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one island country and its capital on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

ELL Academic Vocabulary Grade 2 word search, scramble and crossword pu
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
ELL Academic Vocabulary Grade 2 word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this academic vocabulary puzzle set for my 2nd graders during our reading and writing block. The kids could do the work but had no idea what words like "explain," "describe," or "compare" meant when I gave them directions. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like explain, describe, compare, contrast, identify, list, define, state, retell, infer, and predict. I also threw in a few key ELA terms like author, illustrator, title, setting, character, and plot because they come up in every read-aloud we do . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the direction words finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the difference between "explain" and "describe." The crossword I use for partners or as a warm-up before a lesson. I added a couple simple checkmark, pencil, and book drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 2nd grade, especially for English learners who need extra exposure to academic language. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one word and use it in a sentence on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Atoms and Molecules word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Atoms and Molecules word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this atoms and molecules puzzle set for my 4th graders during our chemistry unit. The kids had heard the words but thought atoms were like tiny dots and had no idea how they stick together to make molecules. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like atom, molecule, proton, neutron, electron, nucleus, element, compound, bond, water, oxygen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and periodic table. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally make sense. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether water is an atom or a molecule. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple circle and stick drawings showing atoms bonding but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a simple atom with protons, neutrons, and electrons on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
