Grade 5 Biomes word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Grade 5 Biomes word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this biomes puzzle set for my 5th graders during our life science unit. The kids could name a few regions like the forest and the desert, but they had no idea what words like biome, tundra, taiga, or temperate meant when we started learning about the different climate zones and the plants and animals that live there. They also kept mixing up the locations and characteristics of each biome. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like biome, tundra, taiga, temperate forest, tropical rainforest, grassland, desert, savanna, marine, and freshwater . I also included a few like "climate" and "adaptation" because they kept coming up in our class discussions about how plants and animals survive in each biome . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess, and the scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "savanna" (one n or two) or whether a taiga and a tundra are the same thing (they're not—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a biome map or pictures of each biome nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the differences in climate, location, and vegetation . I added a couple simple tree, cactus, and polar bear drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 5th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one biome and name one plant and one animal that lives there on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Black History Month word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Black History Month word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Black History Month puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our February unit. The kids had heard of the month but had no idea what words like heritage, equality, or civil rights meant when we talked about why we celebrate. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Black History, heritage, equality, justice, civil rights, freedom, MLK, Rosa Parks, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, legacy, courage, achievement, and February. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the Black History vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether Harriet Tubman was a conductor on the Underground Railroad. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple hand, heart, and star drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one fact about a Black historical figure on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Rosa Parks word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Rosa Parks puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our Civil Rights unit. The kids had heard she refused to give up her bus seat but had no idea that one quiet act helped start a huge movement. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Rosa Parks, bus, seat, refuse, arrest, brave, segregation, boycott, Montgomery, protest, civil rights, equality, justice, leader, and change. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the story finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether Rosa Parks was the first person to refuse her bus seat. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple bus and silhouette drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one fact about the Montgomery Bus Boycott on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Thomas Jefferson's Birthday word Scramble puzzle worksheet
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Thomas Jefferson's Birthday word Scramble puzzle worksheet activity Thomas Jefferson's Birthday Word Scramble Worksheet I made this word scramble for my 5th graders when we studied the Founding Fathers last year. It's a simple 2-page PDF with 24 scrambled terms about Jefferson's life and achievements - words kids actually encounter in history lessons like "Declaration," "Monticello," and "Louisiana." The words range from easier ones like "book" (for Jefferson's library) to tougher ones like "architect" (since he designed his home). I printed these on parchment-style paper when we did our Colonial America unit, and the class worked on them while waiting for our Jefferson birthday cake. You'll get: • Page 1: The scramble with clear spaces for answers • Page 2: A no-frills answer key I use this when: Introducing our Jefferson lessons Needing a quick history activity Preparing for Constitution Day The words connect to real things we discuss - "inventor" (for his gadgets), "Virginia" (his home state), and "president." My class last year loved discovering "Liberty" was one of the words right before we studied the Declaration. Format: Basic PDF (2 pages) Teacher Tip: Have students underline the word that interests them most to research!

Grade 6 Medieval History word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Grade 6 Medieval History word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this medieval history puzzle set for my 6th graders during our social studies unit. The kids had heard of knights and castles but had no idea what words like feudalism, serf, or manor meant when we started learning about the social structure of the Middle Ages. They also kept mixing up the roles of lords and vassals and didn't understand how the system worked. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like medieval, knight, castle, king, queen, lord, lady, serf, peasant, feudalism, manor, chivalry, joust, siege, and Middle Ages . I also included a few like "cathedral" and "crusade" because they kept coming up in our class discussions . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "chivalry" (it's a tricky one) or whether a serf is the same as a slave (it's different but complicated—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a feudal pyramid diagram nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the hierarchy of the medieval social structure . I added a couple simple castle, sword, and crown drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 6th through 7th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one fact about life for a serf or a lord on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

President Day Traditions word search & scramble
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Word search & scramble puzzle worksheet activities for kids 2nd and 3rd grades to 4th and 5th grades, also solution for the puzzles is included ⭐ This document contains a word search and a word scramble activity. The materials were created during an afternoon when student engagement was low. The objective was to provide an activity that resembled a game while also stimulating cognitive function. The puzzles proved effective in achieving this goal. The PDF document is four pages in length. It includes two puzzles for student use (a word search and a word scramble) and two answer keys. Visual elements are incorporated to enhance engagement without causing distraction. The graphics are designed to be appropriate for the target audience. ⭐ The students in the class find these items enjoyable. They work on them in groups during the morning session, or they are provided to students who complete their work early to occupy their time. The word search activity has also been utilized as a quiet activity following recess. The word scramble activity often initiates discussions, such as the correct form of the word "recycle." The preparation required is minimal. The materials are printed, distributed, and then the students begin the activity. Occasionally, students are instructed to highlight or circle their preferred word and use it in a sentence. This extends the activity beyond simple enjoyment and enhances its educational value.

This packet is perfect for newcomers or long-term ESL students, this vocabulary packet includes 2 versions of months and seasonal vocabulary. One is an editable Power Point file and the other is a PDF that's ready to print. 17 pages in each. Included in each packet is: -- 15-word picture dictionary -- Days of the week vocabulary -- word/picture matching exercise -- crossword puzzle -- word search w/ picture labeling -- 4 Discussion questions for small groups -- fill in the blanks -- Printable cards for matching games (etc) -- 5 different picture BINGO cards -- Build your own BINGO cards -- 5 different word BINGO cards I have used this resource personally in my middle school Newcomers ESL class with students who have been living in the county less than 2 years, learning English for the first time. This was typically one of their independent work stations and I would use a different packet each week. Then the BINGO cards found in each packet were used at the small group table. **I've also used this as a beginning of the day activity ( morning work) in early elementary classrooms depending on the packet, OR **As elementary sub plans - print and leave the packet for them to complete in their groups.
