Getting Around the Community word search, scramble and crossword puzzl
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Getting Around the Community word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this getting around the community puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our community unit. The kids could walk to school but had no idea what words like crosswalk, sidewalk, or street meant when we talked about moving safely in town. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like walk, bike, car, bus, train, street, sidewalk, crosswalk, stop sign, traffic light, map, neighborhood, and park. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the community travel vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a crosswalk or a stop sign is more important for safety. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple car, bus, and crosswalk drawings but nothing too busy. Works for K through 2nd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw their route to school on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Tax Day word Scramble puzzle worksheet activity Tax Day Word Scramble – Financial Fun for Students! Teachers, here's a practical word scramble I created for my middle school life skills class when teaching about financial literacy. This 2-page PDF contains 24 tax-related terms that students might hear adults discussing, like "deduction," "W-2," and "refund." I tested this last April when we did our "Adulting 101" unit. The kids enjoyed racing to unscramble the words while learning about real-world finances. You'll find a mix of difficulty levels: Simple terms: • Tax • Pay • Form Challenging words: • Withholding • Dependent • Exemption Perfect for: April financial literacy lessons Social studies government units High school economics electives Life skills preparation The clean layout includes: Page 1: Scramble worksheet with clear numbering Page 2: Straightforward answer key I focused on terms students will actually encounter like "income," "filing," and "deadline" rather than complex jargon. Last year, this activity sparked great questions about why we pay taxes and how tax money gets used in our community. Format: No-frills PDF (2 pages) Teacher Tip: Have students star which terms they've heard their parents mention!
