French Basics Numbers word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this French basics numbers puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our French unit. The kids could count in English but had no idea what words like un, deux, or trois meant when we started learning French numbers. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix, onze, douze, treize, quatorze, quinze, seize, dix-sept, dix-huit, dix-neuf, and vingt. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the French number vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether the "s" in "sept" is silent or not. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple French flag and number block drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write the French numbers from one to ten in order on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Letter N word Scramble puzzle worksheet activity Letter N Word Scramble Worksheet Here's a practical word scramble I use with my kindergarten and first grade students when we're learning the letter N. This 2-page printable has 12 simple N words that young learners can unscramble - basic words like "nest", "net", and "nut" along with a few slightly harder ones like "nurse" and "north" for differentiation. I made the font big and clear so emerging readers can easily see the letters. Each scrambled word has its number of letters shown (like "_ " for "net") to give students a helpful clue. My kindergartners love using magnetic letters to build the words before writing them down. You'll find this works well for: Letter N week activities Literacy centers Morning work packets Tutoring sessions Homework reinforcement Page 1 has the student worksheet with all 12 scrambled N words. This Guided Reading Book - Celebrating a New Year (Level H) includes: Guided Reading Color Label (front cover x1) This is a quick way to match the book’s demands to what students can generally handle.. The overall goal is to use the level/color to pick books for several smaller groups. To qualify for a certain level, a student is expected to read a book from that level with about 90–94% accuracy. If a student is consistently accurate and understands, move up a level. If the student is struggling at that level, drop down and add more support. Each student will improve at completely different rates, but it is generally one of the best ways to check progress across the class. DOWNLOAD THE CATALOG TO VIEW ALL GUIDED READING BOOKS AVAILABLE (SORTED LEVELS A-Z) Pre-Reading Question (x1) Teacher asks the prompt aloud, can be while showing the cover or first page. Students share what they already know, or make educated guesses from the cover. Prompt them to use the target vocabulary. Write some of their responses on the board to look back at during the reading. Vocabulary Words (x5) Introduce the five words, best doing it one at a time. Start by saying it, while students repeat and then see if anyone knows what it means before reading further. Read through the meaning and try to briefly connect each word to a picture or gesture so it’s meaningful. Ask students to flip through the book pages and point to where they see each of the vocabulary words. While reading the book pause upon coming across one of the vocab words or read the sentence twice to make sure students understand the word has appeared. Optional: Ask students to raise hands whenever they see/hear one of the new words. Guided Reading Pages (x10) Check the book snapshot (below) for: primary topic - do you need to prep extra reading or intro materials on this? what is taught best - decide on 1-2 bullets to focus on, use the prompt or words provided here for best results. learning goals - what you are checking for students to be able to do after the session, elicit answers using prompts or words provided. key vocabulary (see section above). questions overview - so you know what is coming up and if you need to prep extra materials to assist understanding. Run the lesson You may have already looked at a few of the pages together, but you can show them some of the pictures again first to set meaning. Depending on how much time you have and how familiar your students are with guided reading class, you may want to read the book aloud first with the group first. Students whisper or partner read, while you listen in. If time, do it as a group, one student reading a page each. Use the guided page’s prompts to coach: “Check the picture / does it make sense?” “Point under the words / try the first sound” “Reread the sentence smoothly”. Try to focus more on one student per session (rotating every time), so you can work out if they are ready to move up or need to move down a level. Comprehension Questions (back cover x3) This is your way to check that students didn’t just say the words, but actually understood the text. First, let students answer by pointing to the page/picture and saying a short sentence. After any answer, follow with: “Show me where you found that in the text.” In bigger groups, have partners answer first (10–20 seconds), then call on 2–3 students to share. Students will explain one New Year tradition from Spain or Japan described in the book. Students will describe what the book says red lanterns symbolize during Lunar New Year. Students will explain what a New Year’s resolution is and give one example from the text. Compass Rose and Directions word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this compass rose and directions puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our map skills unit. The kids could point to north sometimes but got completely lost when I asked about northeast or southwest. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest, compass rose, direction, cardinal, intermediate, map, navigate, and turn. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the directions finally click. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether northeast is a real direction. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple compass rose drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write what direction their classroom faces on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Grade 8 Career Readiness word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this career readiness puzzle set for my 8th graders during our transition unit. The kids were starting to think about high school and the future, but they had no idea what words like resume, interview, or skills meant when we started talking about preparing for a career. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like career, skills, resume, interview, job, application, references, cover letter, communication, teamwork, responsibility, and goal . I also included a few like "professional" and "internship" because they kept coming up in our class discussions . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "resume" (it's a tricky one with accents, but we keep it simple) or whether skills and talents are the same thing (they're not—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a list of soft and hard skills nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the difference . I added a couple simple briefcase, handshake, and star drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 8th through 9th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one skill they already have that could help them in a job on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

This resource is a Guess Who? Game . This Guess Who? Game | Printable End of Year Activity is the perfect printable End of Year activity for your students to have a good time as the year ends, while reflecting about themselves and their experiences throughout the school year! Students will have fun writing clues about themselves and then figuring out which cards describe which of their classmates. Full directions are included for implementing this whole group activity. When going over the directions with students, assign each student a letter privately. This is how to keep track of which “Guess Who?” card belongs to who since they cannot write their name on it. Assign capital letters A-Z. If you have more than 26 students in your class, I have included letters a-j (lowercase) on the recording sheet. There is a small box on the upper left corner of each card for students to write the letter in. Option: Print “Guess Who?” card template on cardstock. This will help keep the card in better condition and be easier to pass around, hold up, etc. When students create the cards you can ask them to put up privacy folders or move to a spot in the room where others can’t see what they are writing.
