Kindergarten The Five Senses word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this five senses puzzle set for my Kindergarteners during our beginning of the year science unit. The kids could tell me they saw and heard things, but they had no idea what words like "sight," "smell," or "taste buds" meant when we named the senses and their body parts. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, eyes, ears, nose, tongue, skin, see, hear, sniff, taste buds, feel, hot, cold, sweet, sour, and loud. Nothing fancy—just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether the tongue or nose helps you taste more. The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a set of sense picture cards nearby for the kids who need visual support. I added a couple simple eye, ear, nose, mouth, and hand drawings but nothing too busy. Works for Pre-K through 1st grade. Print and go. The kids had a basic grasp of the big events, but they kept mixing up the revolutions of the late 18th century with the global conflicts of the 20th century, and they could never remember whether the Industrial Revolution came before or after the French Revolution . They also struggled with terms like "imperialism," "nationalism," and "totalitarianism," which are essential for understanding the period's long-term consequences . So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using key vocabulary spanning the late modern period, from the American and French Revolutions (both 1776 and 1789) to the Cold War, and covering the big "isms" that shaped it, including nationalism, imperialism, communism, fascism, and totalitarianism . I also included terms that connect the era's driving forces, like "industrialization," "urbanization," and "globalization," alongside specific technologies like "telegraph," "railroads," and "steamships," plus major ideological movements like "feminism" and "socialism" . Nothing fancy—just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess, and the scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "totalitarianism" or whether the American Revolution should be grouped with the French Revolution (the kids from the U.S. always have opinions about that one). Digital Citizenship word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this digital citizenship puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our technology unit. The kids loved being online but had no idea what words like digital, citizenship, or respect meant when we talked about how to behave on the internet. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like digital, citizen, respect, kind, safe, private, share, online, password, think, and report. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the digital citizenship vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether being kind online is as important as being kind in person. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple computer, heart, and globe drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one digital citizenship rule on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

State Capitals West word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Western states and capitals puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our geography unit. The kids could name a few states like California and Colorado, but they had no idea what cities like Sacramento, Denver, or Olympia were, or that the West is the largest region with 11 states including Alaska and Hawaii, which are not connected to the rest of the country . They kept getting confused about which capital belonged to which state, especially the ones that sound like they could be cities in the Midwest, like Salem and Olympia. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using the 11 capitals of the West region: Juneau (Alaska), Honolulu (Hawaii), Sacramento (California), Salem (Oregon), Olympia (Washington), Boise (Idaho), Helena (Montana), Cheyenne (Wyoming), Carson City (Nevada), Salt Lake City (Utah), and Denver (Colorado) . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess, and the scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "Sacramento" (that tricky second 'a') or whether "Juneau" is pronounced like the month or like "Juno" (it's the second one, and they always debate it).
