6th Grade Math: Algebra Inequality Matching Game

6th Grade Math: Algebra Inequality Matching Game
Algebra, Math, Number Lines, Grade 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Word Problems, Activities, Games

Teaching your students about how to write and evaluate inequalities in algebra can sometimes end up being a bit dry. Try adding this game to your algebra unit to bring a little movement and collaboration to your classroom. It's a super simple game : just print the cards and cut them out. There are 32 cards in 16 pairs. Deal one card to each student in your class. They should spend half a minute looking at their card and thinking of other ways it could be represented. For example, if they have a number line: what inequality does it show? If they have an inequality, could it be simplified? Then, all the students get up and move around the room (SILENTLY!). They can use gestures while looking at each others' cards and trying to find their match. Pairs move to the side of the room until everyone is matched up. It's that simple! Of course, you could also use these cards for a standard memory game where you flip two cards at a time and try to find matches. I have also included a second set of cards that have pairs of fractions and decimals (for example 1/20 and 0.05). Grades to Use With: These cards are designed to target the standard 6EE.B.8 in grade six classrooms, but they could also be an excellent quick review in grades 7 and 8! What's Included: 9 Page PDF: Title/Instruction Page 4 Pages of Inequality Cards 4 Pages of Fractions and Decimal Cards If you enjoy this product, check out other 6th Grade Algebra Activities in my store: Pre-Algebra Problem: The Wave Pool with Expressions, Tables, and Graphs Algebra: Modelling Equations: Visual Balance Scale Worksheet Exponent Board Game Independent and Dependent Variables in 6th Grade Math: Hockey Math Middle School Math Stations: Early Algebra

Lyddie by Katherine Paterson, Socratic Seminar Questions

Lyddie by Katherine Paterson, Socratic Seminar Questions
ELA, Reading, Reading Comprehension, Writing, Creative Writing, Literature, Grade 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Novel Studies

Lyddie by Katherine Paterson is a deeply moving novel set in the 1840’s that tells the story of Lyddie Worthen, a young girl who lived in a remote area of Vermont. Because of family difficulties she traveled to Lowell, Massachusetts where she gained employment working in a mill and living in corporate housing. In many instances throughout the book she faced difficulties (including an encounter with a bear inside of her home, as well as an unjust firing from the mill factory), but she stood strong and returned to Vermont and her childhood home with her head held high, as she looked towards the bright future that lies ahead of her. This PDF file of Socratic Seminar Questions contains 45 carefully crafted queries on 13 pages. The first twelve pages contain either three or four questions, while the thirteenth page asks students for one concluding, summative response which requires a more detailed answer. All of the questions can be used to facilitate in-class discussions about the novel. In addition, the Socratic Seminar Questions can also be used for other purposes, such as homework assignments or classroom quizzes , and the pages will help teachers gauge whether or not the students have read and understand the specific sections of the novel. An answer key, including Common Core Standards for Reading and Writing for grades seven and eight, follows the 13-page section of student questions. It is my hope that these Socratic Seminar Questions will be helpful to teachers who present Katherine Paterson’s Lyddie to their students, and I believe that as the students read the novel they will find that the questions help them develop critical thinking skills in English and Language Arts. If you find that these questions are helpful to your students, please contact me with the names of other novels that you use in class and I will see if I could write questions for those books. My email address is: gary.ciesla@gmail.com. Thank you.

TRACINT ALPHABET LETTERS - Dinosaur Theme

TRACINT ALPHABET LETTERS - Dinosaur Theme
ELA, Writing, Handwriting, Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

1. Brief introduction: Dinosaurs are always attractive to children, for this reason today I decided to create this fun resource for children to review the letters from A to Z, with a dinosaur theme. It should be noted that this material contains both uppercase and lowercase letters. According to a recent study, children tend to be interested in dinosaurs between the ages of 2 and 6. Furthermore, the study showed that children who tend to focus on dinosaurs are much more intelligent than the rest, because they pay more attention to them and develop other types of skills to be able to address this curious fixation. Infants can also master the names of up to 25 dinosaurs (which is often a challenge for an adult), however, they do master the full name, periods and even their classification. Children's brains are totally awesome! 2. Title of the pedagogical resource: "Letters from A to Z to review with the dinosaur theme" 3. Topic to work on: The letters from A to Z. 4. Area of knowledge where it should be applied: This resource can be applied in the area of literacy and language learning. 5. Number of pages contained: This pedagogical document contains 26 pages. 6. Is it available in color or white/black? It is available in colors, so that it is much more striking. 7. What version is it available in? It is in PDF version, so that it is much easier and more direct to print. 8. Editable/Not editable: It is not editable. 9. Age to which it can be applied: You can apply it to children aged 4,5,6,7 who are learning their first letters and who also need to practice their writing. 10. Tags or keywords that describe the content: alphabet, alphabet, strokes of the alphabet, tracing of the alphabet, tracing of the letters, letters for children, letters to review. 11. Ways to print: I suggest that you print it as is, or if you like, reduce it from 2 sheets to 1, and in colors, so that it is much more attractive for your students.
